Goes wonderful with ruffles potato chips but is very fattening.

1. It all depends on what is being dipped
Crackers - Some type of cheese, there are many excellent ones though Trader Joe's Sharp cheddar with caramelized onions is like crack.

Chips - I usually go basic with Liptons onion soup mix in sour cream. Unless it's Dorito's, then it's Trader Joe's fresh salsa.

Bread - Hummus. A nice lemon and garlic flavor is awesome.

3. Kroger used to have the best jalapeno dip.
It was divine with Doritos. We no longer have Kroger markets here anymore.... so I don't know if they still sell it. They sold it at the cheese counter.

7. high fat + crunchy salty snacks? I'm there!
hard to choose a fave - love old style onion soup and sour cream, but nobody has mentioned velveeta and salsa in the microwave + tortilla chips

7 layer dip might be a little healthier, plain old salsa is damn good too

ranch dressing is good on just about anything, make it thick with sour cream instead of mayo

tzaziki or however you spell it is yummy with flat bread or you can bake flour tortillas too

marinara sauce makes a good dip for crusty bread

aioli for french fries, might be good on chips too???

OK I'm getting freaking hungry now, thanks a lot!!!:spank:

With caramelized onions. Awful. Way too sweet. Give me the over-salted processed variety any day.

13. Hot Crab Dip
1 pkg (3oz) Philly cream cheese in a block, not a tub, softened
1/2 C Mayonnaise - Hellmans, ONLY Hellmans
1 can (6oz) crabmeat drained
1T lemon juice
1/8 t tabassco sauce
1/4 cup minced onion
Beat cream cheese until smooth. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spoon into small oven proof dish. Back at 350 for 30 mins, or until bubbly. Serve hot

This makes a small amount. You can double, triple, quadruple this recipe for however big your party is.

Best served with New York Style Mini Garlic Bagel Chips.

21. Agree with the Philly + chives, also guac
That is my #1 addiction: chips and dips.

I could spend a weekend in a candy store/bakery and not eat anything, but put me in a house with chips and dips, and they are GONE.

26. I made a bacon horseradish dip last weekend and that was popular.
I was at a lake house with friends and I was working with some limitations. Based on the fridge contents I threw this one together to eat on slices of colored sweet peppers, sliced carrots, raw broccoli, cucumber slices, and snow peas.

Dip contents:

Cooked diced bacon
Plain Yogurt (sour cream would work fine)
Mayo (REAL mayo, not salad dressing!)
Minced fresh onion (Green onions would be good in this if you have a choice...)
Ground Horseradish

Pretty much equal parts of the mayo and yogurt, as much bacon as you can muster, and the rest is to taste. If you go to a salad bar that has real bacon bits on it that works fine and saves time. I had baked/oven fried a bunch of bacon the night before for BLTs and I just used what was left to make the dip.

Got good reviews and vanished quickly along with the pre-dinner beverages.

31. I oven fried three baking sheets of thick sliced bacon for five people.
It was a very near thing that there were any leftovers. As it was, one kid was circling for the last slices when his mom told him he needed to eat some veggies before he got any more bacon to eat...

You, Madam, are an astute observer of human nature.
