is it dangerous to eat ants?
A little while ago, I made myself a home-made version of an egg mcmuffin.

As I was taking the last bite, I noticed an ant crawling across my plate.

I may, or may not, have eaten an ant. I hope note.

If I did, is it particularly bad?

1. Ants and termites are quite nutritious.
you've probably eaten more bugs than that and just didn't notice.

2. You don't see dead aardvarks lying around all over the place, do you?
You can eat all the ants you want. They won't hurt you.

11. NO, no no. You must cook them first. And if chocolate covered,
they will taste much better.

12. I once had a theory that it actually might be a healthful thing to do
based on the facts that 1) ants contain formic acid and 2) formic acid is one of the few, if not only, chemicals that can break up a tangled mess of prions (the mad-cow causing protein).

Of course, the formic acid would undergo changes in the digestive tract so it's possible that the two would never meet, although perhaps throwing some ants into that hamburger might be a good idea?

If so, I claim a patent on the idea.

16. Apparently not. Back when, standard kid dare.
Wet finger, apply to ant, lick finger. They taste vinegary.
