Brian Jacques, author of the "Redwall" series of fantasy books has passed away.
Saw this posted in GD.

A remarkable man. Sailor, longshoreman, radio host, stary teller, and author were just a few of his lives.

My son and I started reading the Redwall series together when he was about six. He would just listen then, but by the time we finished Triss, he was reading aloud as much as me. Alas, he was just to "old" to read out loud with his dad after that, but it's a great memory that he and I share reading the Redwall series together.

Fair winds and safe passage to you Mr. Jacques, you will be missed.

1. I just told my son, and he's very sad about it. Thanks for the heads-up.

2. oh, that's sad. He seemed like such an interesting man
and told such great stories. The animated films were fun, too.

3. I read them out loud to my kids, too.
After the first few books, they started reading the books by themselves.

They make great read-alouds, don't they?

I was not surprised to learn that the first few stories were written for blind children. They are so vividly descriptive.

RIP

5. My kids loved those stories.
As well as the PBS adaptation of them. My older son in particular.

6. That's too bad.
My youngest son loved all the Redwall books. And I wanted to join the creatures at their feasts!

7. eternal memory
I first read Redwall when my mom was sick with cancer way back when, and it made the process easier. I was 10 I think at the time. I've purchased all of that series since. He was a gifted storyteller who will be greatly missed.
