Doc Martens Fans Check In Here!
I own two pairs, and my main pair (the other is made on a different last and doesn't fit as well, so I use them as gym shoes) is the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned. Not only that, but I used to go through a pair of shoes every 6-8 months or so, and I've had these since 1998!

Who else here wants to show the shoes some love?!

:)

7. Technically, mine are "boots" too...
They have 16 holes. I just consider them "shoes" because they've just long since stopped being anything *but* shoes to me. :) I don't wear anything else, unless I absolutely have to.

When I first got them, they were so heavy they made my calves ache for days, but my legs are stronger now, and their soles are thinner. (They're still damned heavy.) I've worn them in rain, snow, sand, ice, dirt, mud, for horseback riding as "paddock boots" (at which they're excellent, btw), and everywhere from Northern Ontario to New York City. They'll be going with me to Florida and the Bahamas when I leave on a cruise (which my rich friends bought me, OMG!) in a month!

3. Their shoes are fantastic
I've never been enough of a Goth/backpacker to try the boots, but I've got a pair of used oxfords I bought from eBay, and they are the finest single pair of shoes I've ever owned. They ain't kidding about them oil/fat/petrol/alkali/NBC-resistant soles. They've got a couple of cracks in them, but that's only because I insisted on wering them through a couple of snowstorms. Doc has a customer for life.

4. this pair, '97 - they've been around the world twice (literally) - photo
I've worn these boots around the world, literally, on two circuits of the globe. They've walked on the Great Wall O' China, been immersed in the Nile River, the Indian Ocean, and the mighty Mississippi. They've trod the Swiss Alps, the Carpathian passes, and the Appalachian Trail. They've been tested by the sands of the deserts of Afghanistan and the American West, the swamps of the Congo and south Louisiana.

These boots are my friends. I still wear 'em everyday. Near about.

8. Those are some lucky shoes...
And you're doubly lucky to have had the opportunity to travel so much. Right now the prospect of going overseas makes my mouth water, but I can't afford to go...

9. My boots take me to some interesting places - mostly for work.
I guess they find a bit o' time for fun and relaxation, too.

Yeah, DMs are stylish, I guess. But my black Chippewa steel-toed shitkickers are 10x as badass as DMs, and they *last*. I've had this particular pair for over two years, and they haven't even popped a stitch.

Boo yah. Keep yer DMs.
