What? That's the only possible explanation. His mom's from Earth, and apparently American. Clearly, she had to be able to pronounce it. His dad's name was Sarek, not terribly hard to pronounce. The only other famous Vulcan, T'Pau was pronounceable enough for English pop singers with a Heart and Soul fixation. Don't you think?
