Naked Vacations becoming more popular
http://www.cnbc.com/id/38739381/

Forget the staycation and no-cation. The nation is breaking out of the economic slump and America, it's time for a "nakation!"

For all of the overclothed readers among us, a nakation is a naked vacation.

And, it seems, Americans are warming to the idea: Nearly one out of every two people surveyed by travel site TripAdvisor said they’d be willing to bare it all at a beach. That’s up from 3 out of 10 last year.

(snip)

“It’s not about flaunting one's wares or checking out the eye candy,” explained Amelie Hurst, a spokeswoman for TripAdvisor. “Many travelers say they enjoy these spaces because they can beat the crowds and enjoy the beautiful settings.”

2. How do you spot a blind man at a nudist colony?
It's not hard...

7. I met one of my ex boyfriends at a nudist campground.
Edited on Fri Aug-20-10 12:24 AM by ThomCat
It was a long distance relationship. The campground was half way between where he lived and where I lived. So we would meet there.

We were dating for a year before I ever saw him with clothes on for the first time.

I didn't recognize him. :wow:

8. Cool!
We went to south padre once and it wasn't until after we checked into a beach house that we found out there was a nude gay beach there with a hotel. We vowed we would go back to texas and go there, but we never made it.

I could do the nude thing, as long as everyone else was nude. :-)

9. I stopped for years, because of my disability.
I found it emotionally hard to be a nudist when I had to wear knee braces and use a cane too for 7 years. I was horribly embarrassed by my legs, and needing all that hardware to walk.

It's a same too, because I doubt anyone would have really noticed, much less cared. So I avoided the parks, beaches, and camps for nothing. :(

By the time I stopped wearing the braces (but still needed the cane) I no longer had friends living nearby who were nudists. I have never had a drivers license. So I couldn't get to/from anyplace on my own unless it was nearby and accessible by public transit.

Now I'm in a wheelchair, so my accessibility is even more limited. Totally sucks. I'd love to start hanging out at nudist places again. But my roommate/caretaker would never, ever go. No way in hell. That is never going to happen.

So unless I find other nudist friends around here to start traveling with, I'm not likely to ever make it to another nudist beach or camp again. :(

That really sucks after all the good times I had over the years when I was young. Most of the people there were the age I am now.

In a different time, I would have taken you. I have a little experience in care giving. (i am care giving for three people most times)

Maybe one of us will hit the lottery some day! :-)

5. I told my fellow members of my externship program on the day..
I went to the Imperial War Museum in London rather than the World Naked Bike Ride in Piccadilly Circus:

"I'm just going to get all worked up and excited at the prospect of seeing naked people, only to find that the vast majority of the participants will turn out to be the sort of people I wouldn't want to see naked in the first place."

6. Blame it on Global Warming.
Although I would be very happy if we were to drop the word "vacation" and replace it with the much nicer "holiday" :D

So, instead of a "nakation" it would be a "nudieday" :P

18. They also say it down under and in New Zealand
or any other British colony ;)

How the hell did we ever accept the clinical "vacation"?

11. "They can enjoy the beautiful settings."
If I were there au naturel, the setting would not be so beautiful.

I don't even let my cats see me naked.

12. Being a child of the sixties ...
Edited on Fri Aug-20-10 05:44 PM by kwassa
I first swam nude at Woodstock, with hundreds of others. After that, we all went skinny-dipping for years, as we were illegally swimming in a remote local reservoir.

It is really no big deal. After the first few minutes, everything is seen that can be seen, curiosity is satisfied, and it is not all that sexy, regardless of physical condition.

I've also been to nude beaches in various places, but never subscribed to any particular philosophy of nudism. It is just humans in their most normal state of being.

Public nudity is not a big deal unless you haven't done it before, but you will never believe this before you do it.

13. Geez, are we at the bottom of the barrel yet?
"Stay-cation", "Na-cation", what's next, the "Ba-cation" for people who want to spend their time off trading cake recipes? Slow news month at CNBC, methinks.

19. How about a "work-ation"?
Edited on Sat Aug-21-10 02:23 PM by JustABozoOnThisBus
Take your vacation, but take along the computer and cell phone and answer all emails from work and take work-related calls. Technology makes this easier, so it happens more often. I didn't appreciate the intrusion of work into my personal holidays.

:hi:

edit to add: as long as the computer doesn't have a web-cam, you can attend corporate meetings while nude. Whew, now the post follows the theme of the OP.

:hi:
