Question for California DUers regarding wages and salaries...
I'm applying to a position in Los Angeles. One of the questions asked in the application is "minimum salary requirement." I figured what I would find "minimal" as a single adult who will be living alone. However, I'm currently living in Kansas, and my "adjustment" might not be reasonable. I would like some input from DUers living in the LA area.

What would you consider a reasonable salary for a single adult living alone and working in the LA area?

1. You can't determine salary based on your age
You need to base it on the job.

Visit http://salary.com, type in the job title and LA's zip code. You'll get a market range for the area and position.

3. Good luck!
I think you'll find the salary levels in LA a bit higher than Kansas. :)

4. I'd like to add to the above advice: determine your location for cost of living estimates

All of LA is not the same as far as how much things are going to cost you. Rents, groceries, gasoline all vary by area.

Good luck.

5. Definitely.
I'm currently in South Central and regular gas is about $3.04 a gallon. Going north and out into the valley yesterday, I noted that it rose to $3.39 in Hollywood. Also, the OP didn't mention whether they were interested in buying a home (!) or not, or if they'd rent...apartments seem to begin at around $750 for a one-bedroom, and climb from there depending upon location.

A good salary will keep the OP out of the current CA budget debacle/problems, but for anyone interested in coming to CA, it's worth noting that the state is in trouble and that social services are being dramatically cut. Look out for privatization.
