1. Will has moments of absolute comic brilliance. He also has long stretches
of hammy mediocrity and phoning it in.

Molly's okay, but not that funny. And her whole Mary Katherine Gallagher armpit thing was pathetic.

2. Ferrell's not that funny
but he was at least good enough to carry SNL through some of its worst seasons ever. Shannon is just not funny at all.

3. Ferrel is great on SNL, terrible anywhere else
with the possible exception of "Stranger Than Fiction" which I actually liked a great deal.

He plays the same goddamn character in every movie. His schtick works great for shorts, but for full-length it's grating

12. I totally agree with you - 1/2 the cast of that time was funiier than him.

:boring: But then, again, I watched SNL in the old glory days!

5. The sight of them making love would probably be funnier than any of their movies

6. I have never seen a Will Ferrell movie that I found funny.
Not one.

I have found Molly Shannon funny on rare occasions (i.e., the infamous "Schweddy Balls" sketch), but Will Ferrell is just awful.

7. Will Ferrell gets points for a dead-on, hysterical impression of George W. Bush.
No one did a better W than Will Ferrell.

11. OK, I will concede that point.
You're right, Ferrell's W impersonation was spot on. Thanks for that reminder! :hi:

8. Will Ferrell - when he's not playing the Chimp.
But either of them are funnier than Fred Armisen or Kristen Wiig. Those two idiots are killing the show.

9. Ferrel kissing Sascha Baron Cohen at the end of Talladega Nights may be the funniest thing I've ever
seen in a movie that didn't involve John Cleese or Danny DeVito. I'm open to other exceptions, but they still won't push him very far down the list.

The only thing I even remember Molly Shannon in was Talladega Nights, and it was a small role that most people could have played, so I can't comment on her.

13. Ferrell
I LOVE Molly Shannon. I laugh at her even when she's not really doing anything. Just something about her that makes me LOL!

14. My grandson says Molly Shannon
Because "Will Ferrell is awesome". He didn't get to see your post, I just posed the question. Coincedently, we're watching "Superstar" as I type this
