"Jaws" did it to me again!
I'm watching on the Bio channel a documentary about the filming of "Jaws."

Back in 1975 during that part when Hooper has that's guy's head float into view through a hole in the boat, I LEVITATED. :scared:

Well, they showed that scene, and I jumped AGAIN! :scared: :scared:

:-)

1. My brother and I were in the balcony
first row. He was ten and when that head popped through the hole he was so startled he knocked his extra-big-ass coca-cola over the edge onto a bunch of unsuspecting patrons below. We beat feat for the restroom before the ushers came looking for us.

2. Hee hee!
Spielberg said he saw one initial viewer of the movie not make it to the john and lose his lunch.
This was right after that little boy on a raft got munched.

I just wonder how many more got the shit scared out of them like I did nearly, from that scene.

3. Scariest part was Quint's story of the sinking of Indianapolis
Of course it took a few takes to get it just right.

4. That's because Shaw was drunk during the first attempt.
Seriously.

7. We are watching it right now
I loved the part where Spielberg asked Dreyfuss to play the part and he said no because it will be "a bitch to film" :)

I don't know how often I've watched it but I always jump at that scene.

8. His stunt double had it worse
These scenes were filmed by noted shark photographers Ron Taylor and Valerie Taylor with the help of shark expert Rodney Fox specifically for the movie. Because the Great White sharks they filmed would be smaller than the mechanical shark in the movie, they constructed a smaller version of Hooper's shark cage. Inside the cage they alternately used a small mannequin or a little person.

One of the sharks they attracted got caught in the cage's cables and tore it apart trying to escape. The footage was so good that they changed the script to reflect the destroyed cage and Hooper escaping by hiding on the ocean floor. However, the small person used in the scene refused to go back in the miniature cage, which was damaged in the incident.

9. Yikes!
That bit scared the crap out of me. But, I'm telling ya, the gurgling screams and shudders from that young woman in the opening scene will haunt me for the rest of my days.

I never imagined I would be so damned happy to see a robot shark get blowed up.

10. The opening scene
still gives me the chills! The girl being yanked down repeatedly under the water, then being tossed back and forth, before finally going under - YIKES!

12. You were not the only one
I remember how pretty much everyone in the theater did too. Seems like a fairly tame scene to me now, but at the time... :wow:
