MMMMM. Two POUNDS of frozen baby lima beans. Bring on the angel hair.
Edited on Fri Jun-04-10 08:10 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
Just bought two one pound bags at Lucky for $3.00.

I put them in the rice cooker on "steam" setting for 25 minutes and they come out perfect. I don;t know why baby lima beans take twice as long to cook as the regular "fordhook" lima beans, but they do.

Steam up a cup or so, mix them with 8 ounces of cooked angel hair pasta tossed with fresh ground black pepper, olive oil, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese...a "comfort food" from my youth.

1. That sounds really really delicious, Amerigo.
Obviously I'm going to have to go out and find some baby lima beans.

2. Keep the beans.
Lima beans is one of the few things I don't care for.

3. Ever try it with fava beans?
That's the way Italians would make it and favas may still be around in the local farmers market. I know it wouldn't be the comfort food of your youth but it is pretty tasty.

5. I'll have to try it some time...
...the baby limas work better with angel hair, but fava beans with a thicker pasta, like linguine, might be worth a try.

4. LOVE and eat lots n lots o' lima beans...
.
...often topped with a little bit of Ranch with Bacon salad dressing.
.
One of my favorite veggies. Fordhook frozen have 0 gms sodium in my
local store (Fry's) , but the baby limas have 200mg (!!!) per serving.
.
Same generic brand. Same packaging. Same everything.
.
.
WTF?!?!?!?
.
