Does anyone else think Job/Career Fairs are a waste?
Talked to a couple people who went to one today. I told them yesterday that they would want to hand out their resume and the person at the booth would tell them: "You really should apply at our website." They did.
One guy manning a booth admitted he did not work for that company but for the company that had the booth next to it ! The guy for the booth had gone off to run a personal errand and asked someone from the next booth to man his.
Another guy told one of them them you not only needed to apply online but have a contact inside the company and since she didn't have one he could be hers. She said good, give me your card... He said "oh, I don't have a card."
Maybe companies send out their idiots they can't stand having around the office to staff the booths at career fairs?
Then around here there are always as many military recruiters and trade schools recruiting students as there are supposed 'employers'. Just seems like a farce really.
