And in general more expensive wine tastes better than cheap wine. Finally, drinking cheap wine after good wine does not make the cheap wine taste better. So here's to wine:thumbsup:

1. My son is in a winemaking academy. I've learned a lot, too.
And you're pretty much right. I've learned that I love vanilla, blackberry and cherry notes, like a long, slightly creamy finish and vastly prefer red to white...but if it must be white, pinot gris is my favorite. I have to confess I don't buy many expensive wines but for a treat I do now and again, and the ones I like (Owen Roe, McCrea, and various other Washington State and Oregon ones) are just wonderful.

Spo-dee-o-dee.

2. My every day wines are generally...
$10 - $14 South American reds, primarily Malbecs. There are so many wines and vineyards to choose from it is easier to stick with those you know and like. That said, a friend had a wine tasting party and we finished with an $80 California Cab that was so far and away better than any of hthe $20 wines it was humbling. Wish I could afford to drink $80 wine all the time.

3. only to a point
there are lots of really good moderate priced wines, spending gobs of money for something to drink regularly is just a waste.
