I have never had this happen before (is this common to everyone else) |
|
I was at a bar with a buddy for dinner and a couple of beers. This women and her husband (I assume) sat next to us.I was drinking this stout with cappichino (sp)in it. She was chatting with me in between talking with the guy she was with. She made a comment about the beer I was drinking and asked me to try it. I was surprised by the request as I have never had anyone I did not know ask to try my beer and let her have a swig.
Is this common now a days?

1. I think it USED to be much more common. |
|
. We've gotten a little hyper-sensitive to cooties again. . . I did have a homeless person with some sort of HUGE ulcer/chancre near her lip ask for a swig from my soda can once. I gave her her own soda from the six-pack I had just gotten. . :scared: :scared: :scared:

2. That seems a little odd. |
|
I mean if it were your friend, sure, but this woman was a stranger.

men ask if I want to try their drink(s). I never do.
on edit: I did try an older gentleman's scotch at a very upscale hotel bar a few months ago. Uh oh.

7. Sharing your own drink, or asking to share anothers, is intimate. |
|
I wonder if the OP was being hit on.

8. Actually, I have a big mouth and talk to everyone |
|
at bars. He was a very distinguished looking gentleman and I got to take the first drink.
But yes, the OP was most likely being hit upon.

10. it's more about the type of person |
|
some people are just more outgoing than others. if she felt comfortable chatting with you, I think it's perfectly normal, if she's an outgoing person. sounds like she was flirting.

13. I think it is common in the USA to be chatting with the people who sit near you in a restaurant. |
|
I visited Boston once and it seemed every time we sat in Sam's American Cafe someone would lean over and talk to us as we were eating. Doesn't happen in Canada. Does that help?
