I thought the Wesley/Fred story line was superb. And the song, A Place Called Home is one of the best songs, although sad and hopeful at the same time.

3. The 2-parter where Fred

dies and becomes Alleria may be my favorite 2 eps of the series. Well, Spin the Bottle from season 4 was awesome too where they all lost their memory and thought they were like 17 again. Love it - I've got every ep on DVD.

I remember when that ep first aired. It seemed to be a love it or hate it thing for the fans - who have mostly now come round to the Loved It category looks like. Everyone wanted a finale with closure, a big relatively happy ending like Buffy. So what does Joss Whedon do? He ends the show right as the Dragon and army of evil arrive! Stroke of genius on so many levels. Like you said, the fight never ends. Was a great fuck-you to the WB for canceling the show (Joss had awesome plans for Season 6 - I haven't read the comics yet so not sure if he followed through with them or not). And we did get closure with the final ep of Angel - just not the kind some people wanted. Conner and Angel worked out their issues, Alleria/Fred finally got to lie to Wesley (sniff), Lorne did his final job (RIP Andy Hallett), and Wolfram and Hart finally came crashing down. Wow - I think I'm gonna have to watch it again now. :)

Understanding backward time, Picard phasing between different times.

Was that the episode?


From memory, that episode had a temporal flaw in it.

When they initiated the backwards flowing rift, they did it while the event did not exist, unless the event jumped when initiated, something not spoken of, then they should never have been able to see the event not existing until they created it, then since it flowed backwards, after they created it, they would only see it in the historical records.

Sorta interesting, but effectively the anomaly should have shrunk till they fired on it, making it go away, but creating it in backwards flow.



But I also agree it was a good episode.

Saul says to the guy that killed the lady when doing the transfer, that he would have done the same thing if someone had killed his wife. But Saul actually killed his own wive in that series.


And Adama warned about talking to ghosts of the past or something like that to Boomer, I think it was Boomer.
Then at the end, he was sitting talking to Roslin's grave.



There were many really good parts to the show, but I found those, and a few others parts of the script interesting.

Although I did not like the very end with Six and Baltar.

"You know, I know a bit about farming..." before tearing up. Despite his attempts to hide his roots and conquer the world, he's back to square one. Very fitting, IMO.

There is something really deep and meaningful in that simple comment.


When I watched that series, there was something about the Baltar character, flawed and worried about self was most of his actions, but as the series went along, he became better as if he was learning.

When thinking about best characters of that series, he is one of them. There is an old saying, it is not where you are, its the direction you are headed.

He refused to sign the Cylon orders on the captured colony planet, and in the final episode he even stayed to defend instead of running. The quality of writing in that show was surprising good. And the final episode was really good.


Some other good parts of that series, The Adama Maneuver, the rescue of the child off of the Cylon base in the Black hole, and the trial of Baltar. I think the great character development really made the action when it happened in the series be so much more then some other series.

A point to be careful of judging others I think. For we all have some good and some bad, and can do the same as other people we can choose to criticise. And many times people become what they fight. Are we really that different then our enemies, if we fight them as they fight us?

I remember when Chief said, "We're Cylons, and we have been from the start," my jaw dropped.

The whole show could be viewed as an allegory on US foreign policy, with us being Colonials and Al-Qaeda/rogue states as Cylons. I'm amazed at how subversive the show was.

I think it speaks about many strengths and weaknesses of the human condition, and because of that it matches many allegories.

I couldn't stand him in season one, he became more tolerable in season two, and I started to sympathize with him in season three - but his reaction to finding out that he was a Cylon made me love him. He was a man determined to control his own destiny and damn everything else.

Our local PBS affiliate ran the series several times during my youth, usually very late on Sunday nights. Naturally, my viewing was sporadic; my short-sighted parents were ridiculously focused on making me go to sleep and then to school the following morning. I saw many episodes several times before I finally saw the final episode, probably a decade after my introduction to the series. It was a long build-up, and in the end I was disappointed. Maybe because I had heard so much and wanted some resolution - finally. But what I saw was pop-culture symbolism, very British and very sixties, and maybe I didn't get it. A let-down.

I'd like to see this remake I've heard so much about. Be seeing you.

my vote is for the season 4 finale, "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars".

Though I might have to rewatch "Sleeping in Light"; I've only seen it once and don't remember much.
I just read that it was actually filmed at the end of season 4, when they didn't know if they were getting a season 5 or not, and replaced with "Deconstruction" once they knew they did have one more season.
