I love the Bourne movies. Love them. The Bourne Supremacy
is on TNT right now, and I'm watching it for about the 25th time.

And Moscow is one of my favorite cities, so I like this second installation a lot for the scenery - the Moscow train station images make me nostalgic. Last time I was in Russia about two years ago my husband and I took the overnight train from St. Petersburg to Moscow and had a sleeping compartment (I have to admit - a nicer than Amtrak's sleepers, but there was no private bathroom - but the car bathroom was really exceptionally nice and clean).

Anyway. That's all. :hi:

1. I have never been able to see...
.
...Matt Damon as a convincing action hero. But apparently, many can.
.
I just got done reading The Bourne Identity for the second time. The
first time, I read it in little bits and pieces on break at work and
waiting for/on the bus, etc. and it was extremely confusing.
.
The second time, I read it in greater Chunks and I really liked it.
.
.
.
.
.
You don't understand... Chunks is the name of my dog.
.
Outside of Chunks, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of Chunks,
it's too dark to read.
.
Combined two jokes there for your viewing pleasure.

6. the first one, I think it was The Bourne Identity...
movie is very different from the books. I don't know if I'd like the movies as much if I'd read the book(s) before I saw the movie.

How do you think they compare? :hi:

3. I loved Bourne Identity -- liked Supremacy -- didn't care for Ultimatum
Maybe I'll have to give Ultimatum another chance sometime soon -- I know that some people like it the best of the three, but I didn't think it worked.

7. yeah, I didn't like Ultimatum as much, either, but
I still enjoyed it.

I think Identity was probably the best, but Supremacy allowed me to revisit some places I like :)

9. They're on again!

Lol, this is ridiculous. The Bourne Ultimatum is on USA right now :D

Every time I see David Straithern I think of Whistler from Sneakers... have a hard time seeing him as a bad guy.

10. The books were so much better. I hated the movie.
Watched Identity and didn't make it all the way through, I couldn't stand it.

14. Count me as a "movies were better than the books" fan on this one.
Although I never finished the book. My best friend in high school was named Bourne, so he loved the books, but I thought they were too simple.

Of the movies, I came in in the middle of the first one, and didn't like Damon at all, so I skipped the second one. Later I went back and saw "Identity" from the beginning, and all the stuff I hated about Damon's character made more sense, so I liked it enough to watch "Supremacy."

"Supremacy" committed the cardinal sin in a franchise for me. They killed off the girlfriend just to give the bad guy an excuse to break all his vows and kill again. I hate that cliche with a passion on a number of levels, so I never warmed to Supremacy. Still don't like it, although I like the ending a bit, and I agree the scenes in Moscow are beautiful.

"Ultimatum" is far and away my favorite. It's smartly shot, actually goes somewhere besides "Let's show how bad-ass Bourne is," and has the best pursuit scene in recent film history. And they (barely) avoided Bourne jumping into the sack with Julia Stiles, which made up a little for killing Marie in the second one. They did hint at a past romance to give Nicky a reason to help Bourne, and I hated that part. Of course we all know that a young, attractive woman would only ever do anything based on romantic desire and not out of a sense of righteousness or outrage or justice or anything thoughtful and noble. But it was a minor glitch to me.

I think about these things way too much, eh? :) I just saw "Ultimatum" again last night, so the thoughts were on the surface already.
