Negative campaign = low voter turnout, esp. among young Americans?
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/032404F.shtml

There's a quote by McCain, regarding the negative tone set by Bush:

"If it stays with this tone — and it is the tone of the campaigns as much as it is specific words — the tone doesn't change, you're going to see low voter turnout, particularly amongst young Americans, and that's not healthy."

I would imagine there's a higher percentage of democrats and liberals in the younger demographics, so it makes sense to me that alienating them, and keeping them away from the polls would be a deliberate strategy on Bush's part.

1. I agree. I think that Kerry should play this like the old westerns when

the sergeant would tell the men to hold their fire until the enemy was right on them. He should hold back on too much personal exposure except positive answers and highlighting his agenda. He should let the unraveling events talk for him and let Bush tire the people out.
Then come out with a bright positive attitude, speaking to the issues not attacking but pointing out the huge differences.

For the worn out American people it will be like a breath of fresh air.

2. no, Bush's strategy is to make Kerry seem just as bad as he is
Republicans do this every year and try to convince people there's no difference.

You'd be suprised how effective it is.
