1. perhaps the lack of response is the result of....
1. it not being improved
2. you can't stand either

Thats ok, I really am happy with how it turned out, my asking about the other one is just my way of admitting to myself that my work is sucking. So thank you for helping me through my process.

2. Hi Rising Phoenix!
I like the lower one better. The question I have is, what is going on in the middle? Is that part 3-D? I love the edges and the contrast, btw! Keep it up. :-)

it started out as a collage and paint on canvas....but chaos insued....

so I took my exacto knife and cut the hell out if, prying off about half of the material on the canvas. Some of the color and texture was left on the canvas, and I worked on that, inspired by what I already had and what I could make of it.
So I assume you mean the bluish color as the 3d.....just texture is all
as it came out very abstract, much like a picasso ( my hero )....no no I don't think I am a picasso, his style is just a huge inspiration to me.
wow babble, the painting has her face, two blue eyes, nose, and red lips, her pregnant belly and traces of her many tattoos, as well as her long golden curls.
Love my Nikki girl....I hope she likes it.

5. thanks, I have to agree
That first one was crap, I couldn't even sleep the night I painted it, because I knew on that easel was that horrible vision, crap on a canvas. I had to get up and tear it up and start again.

6. The 2nd one is definitely better....
it is far more 'cohesive'. The first one looks like the parts are running from each other. Like the bold style and vibrant colors.

Sometimes when I haven't worked on a piece in a while, for example all Jan due to illness, when I finally get working again it tends to be an explosion of emotional, physical baggage splattered across a poor unsuspecting canvas. Too much paint, too much second guessing and forgetting that I don't have to say everything I need to say in ONE painting. lol

I really like how the second one came out, and I think my friend will dig it, which is really important.

I'll let you know how she likes it.

8. My dear Rising Phoenix!
I like the second one much better too...

Sometimes, though, you need to do the crap stuff first, to find out where you need or want to go...

Writing's the same way.

Do let us know what your dear friend says, OK?

I'll bet she'll like it!
