2. OH MY GOD
These are even better than the one you posted in the Photo Forum.

The second one is too beautiful for words.
Really.

(so I am shutting up now)

except to say
"thank you"

I like the one in the Photo Forum better...

Anyway, I'm thrilled that you took the time to see these too!

And I thank you, my dear Mira...

7. When a river freezes over and then the water level drops,
Edited on Sat Feb-06-10 11:09 PM by Xipe Totec
sometimes, a piece of ice clings to a branch and creates a ledge of ice on which icicles can form.

as the water level of the river falls, more icicles form from the ledge creating a formation that looks like a lamp shade, or a medusa...

8. Oh, WOW!
That's just stunning!

And it greatly deserves its own thread...

Thank you so much for sharing that ...

I am stunned at its beauty.

We just don't have stuff like that here at sea level. It's never cold enough...

9. Updated post with a second view
I'm glad you liked it.

My wife likes it because it is a little piece of beauty among a great deal of ugliness.

The Neponset river is not a great example of environmental awareness. But sometimes, this old tired tributary to Boston Harbor has a few sparkles of beauty.

14. These are beautiful!!! Ah, those waves remind me of Albert Bierstadt paintings!
Our local museum has many of his grand landscapes, including one of a wave, realistic, like green glass with light coming through.

He painted several "waves", the first is in our museum.

15. My dear NYC_SKP!
Oh, those paintings are wonderful! I only wish I could have seen waves that size today...

But thank you for comparing my work to those so favorably...I'm not at all sure I deserve that!

Glad you had time to come by, sweetie...
