What Channels Would You Drop From Your Cable / Satellite Lineup?
For me... it would be VH1, VH1 Classic, MTV, MTV2, Fuse (and their various versions/incarnations).

I could live without the ALL EVANGELISM ALL THE TIME networks too.

Oh! And TNT, TBS... GONE! (There's nothing quite like having your barrage of commercials interrupted by something as silly as a MOVIE!)

3. In the Dish Network top 50
I'd drop all but 10... I wish it would be illegal to force customers to pay for channels they have no interest in.

5. Only if it lowered the cost...
They could easily make customized setups for people... but that would reduce their profits.

They also arrange channels in such a way that most consumers have to buy multiple packages to get what they want.

Buying DVD sets of TV shows seems cheaper in the long run. Especially when cable won't run most of those shows either. :-(

6. I'd get rid of...
A few Spanish language stations (I only watch the one that shows Laura en America), the Discovery Channel, Spike, TNN, History Channeel (the Hitler Network), ESPN Classic, and probably Lifetime.

I can't believe you would eliminate MTV Allen! What would the world be without Cribs, Pimp My Ride, and Til Death Do Us Part?

8. I don't subscribe to cable and often wish I could order
it a la carte...here are channels I would NOT want or need....

Fox sports midwest
EWTN (a Catholic channel)
TBN (a fundamentalist Christian channel)
All other fundamentalists channels
ESPN
ESPN2
Speed channel
Golf channel
Disney
Oxygen
Lifetime
Lifetime Movies
Spike
Sci Fi (they show crappy movies and I cannot stand the show Shannon Doherty hosts)
MTV

That's about all I can think of right now. You will notice Faux News is not on the list; that is because it is a good idea to keep abreast of what the dark side is saying and doing.

Surely the technology exists for people to order only those channels they want. When it is made an option then perhaps I'll get cable.

13. A LONG list
Faux
The Speed Channel
Spike TV
The Golf Channel
CNBC
MTV (since they don't play MUSIC anymore anyway))
PAX
WE (one chick channel is enough)

the two channels I want back (since I went from Digital back to basic cable are BBC America and The Game Show Network.

14. A shorter list would be the ones I'd want to keep:
The big three (just in case they show something interesting)
PBS
The CSPANS
CNN for breaking news stories that NEED pictures
Newsworld International
International Channel
Sundance
Independent Film
HBO
Fox Movies
BBCAmerica (but only for the mysteries and some of the movies)
Ovation
Trio
Starz Cinema

Those channels account for almost all my viewing.

15. I love the all evangelism all the time networks
I wish I had more, I don't get CBN as a separate channel and have to make do with 700 Club airings on ABCFamily.

I like to keep an eye on pro-Apocalypse types, plus they are scarier than slasher movies.

My ideal cable service would have no sports or chick channels whatsoever, and I don't have much use for Nick, MTV or VHS-1. Don't care much for the major networks either, though I watch on occasion. Their reality shows have driven me off to Turner Classic Movies, Sundance and IFC, Comedy Central, TV Land and Cartoon Network. In addition to news channels and C-Span, that's what I watch most often.

Although, if I had to pick certain ones to leave -- Fox News, VH1/MTV and spawn.

Channels I want to Keep:
Comedy Central
Cartoon Network
CNN
CSPAN and its spawn
Sometimes HBO

17. I would get rid of all the sports channels.
There are so many of them, it's ridiculous. I might get rid of the shopping channels as well, and the Spanish language channels (we get 3). Unfortunately, I don't even get Sundance or the Independent Film Channel because I don't subscribe to the mucho expensive package. And I don't even think BBC America is available on our system.

and FSTV.

EDIT: BBC and some others listed here that are general types I would keep as well, but the majority would be gone! Too tired to think and/or type them all :+

19. Comcast has so many useless digital channels.....
I'd like them to offer stuff like Univision (I'm a wrestling fan and I'd like to see the Mexican stuff), but instead we get crap like the Do It Yourself channel and Fine Living.

I'd get rid of the religious channels, and all the "style channels".

I'm not into sports. And all those music channels. Not VH1, MTV and the rest. But the ones that just play music. My dish is supposed to have 150 channels, but 42 of them are music.

American Movie Classics has gone downhill so quickly. Now it's "Planet of the Apes" movies all the time.

24. Most of them
Faux Snooze

shopping crap stations

Jesus channels

MTV and its wannabees

BET (nothing personal against them...there's just nothing on there that appeals to me)

Discovery, TLC, and History channel have gotten so crappy over the last few years that you could take the decent programming on all three and create one good channel with it.
