Why do my headphone wires twist themselves into impossible entanglements?
I set my earbuds down to go to get a cup of coffee. When I come back roughly seven minutes later, my earbuds are still there, only in ridiculous knots and bows and loops. Knots that I didn't know were physically or logarithmically possible. Knots that I couldn't even dream of existing. One day I set them down and watched to see how they did it, but they were afraid to tangle themselves in front of me.

But it's unfair to call out only earbuds. The other day I was doing a film project. I set my studio phones down to get a cup of coffee. When I came back roughly seven minutes later, my studio phones were still there, except the wire was not as much a "wire" as it was a series of mindfucks that made me question my doubt in Aristotelian philosophy.

It was like that back when I had a Discman too. When my parents and I would go on road trips, we would stop at a BPS to get gas, stretch our legs, buy a candy bar, you all know the routine ... anyway, I would set my CD player down in the back seat. When I would return roughly seven minutes later, I would have to begin the process of untangling my modestly priced headphones that had more false endings than a Hitchcock movie.

In a way, it's kind of exciting to pull out my iPod now because I just don't know what surprises will be there this time, or what epistemological epiphanies I will arrive at while trying to unclusterfuck the thing. All I know is that it will take me about ten minutes to get it back the way I want, and it may not be worth doing that because they're just going to screw themselves up in my pocket again in five minutes anyway.

Why don't they build ships and boats with headphone wire instead of marine rope? Just lay a bunch of it down on the deck and go into the cabin for roughly seven minutes. Come back out and proceed with sailor stuff because everything would be irreversibly tied up.

In the mean time, can someone watch my iPod for me? I have exams coming up and I need to do some groceries. I don't want to fry my frontal lobe by uncovering hidden truths during my next earbud entanglement.

1. I have wonder why my earbud wires become tangled.
But I have managed to outsmart them. I just let them hang straight down from the desktop to the floor.

3. Good idea
But if I'm on the go I have to keep them somewhat coiled. That is when it becomes unmanageable. x(
