Poll question: How often do you listen to music?
I can get it in most every day. And I certainly have enough albums for that frequency. So I listen most every day.

1. Several times a day
In my car in the morning and in the afternoons. And then again at night. And sometimes in between.

4. Once or twice a week
Not too much good music now that the radio staions have become a near monopoly.

5. They do play the same stuff too much

I like some of it, but I went to satellite radio, and I'm much more satisfied. If you want to hear the hits, you can, but on Sirius, there are about 60 music streams. :-)

8. Can you get stations from other areas of the country?
Edited on Sat Mar-20-04 06:56 PM by camero
Sattelite radio is something I haven't had the privilige to listen to.
When I was going cross country(cross continent I should say) if you ran into a bad station, you could at least wait until you got to a better area. Almost impossible now.

11. You get stations based on genre/style
Not based on location. Commercial free, too.

17. Sirius is $12.95/month normally
You can get limited time offers for less. Good deal, IMO.

7. Everyday. I never listen to the radio for music though.
It completely sucks for music. I only listen to Stern and Sports Talk on radio.

"...and party every day. Then it was every other day. Now I'm lucky if I can find half an hour a week in which to get funky." --Homer J. Simpson

But Homer's right... I've become an NPR/news junkie, so I don't switch to music as often as I should to justify my massive music collection. Hopefully after the election, I'll feel I can let go and get back to enjoying music.

Last night I DID rock out to Weezer's "The Good Life" and blissed out to Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over" -- lifted my spirits several notches. Maybe I should take a clue, eh?

13. All the time...am listening to it now...Bluegrass show on radio.
...its either radio or on CD/tape.

I almost never listen to the radio for "talk"...except maybe on drive time (NPR & Fresh Air)...but not all the time.

14. I listen to music. I do not listen to pop garbage.
:D

KQRS has a real gasbag blowhard of a hypocrite repuke DJ, but they're still better than KDWB, with their more subliminal repuke DJ that plays nothing but manufactured garbage from manufactured images ('manufactured' not excluding face lifts, et cetera, either...)

KDWB re-airs the same "music" over and over again. I have yet to hear one song that doesn't make me want to disgorge. And they're the station that play's "Today's hit music". What'd they do, hit themselves on the head before recording it to tape?!

Okay, in all honesty, you are correct. Some music made these days is good. "Garbage" is a good band. Most electronica/techno is great as well.

Edit: Spelling :eyes:

21. Are Black-Eyed Peas considered pop?
I don't hate pop, but it's pretty lite stuff usually. I really don't know much about modern pop, but I play music for my students at times (we often eat lunch in the classroom) and they suggested Black-Eyed Peas. I must say, I'm impressed by their song, "Where is the Love?"

It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With the ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'
in
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the love, y'all

22. What I consider good may not be to you, so..
I'm not sure there's any use. But here are some on the singles chart that I like:

Evanescence, Sheryl Crow, Beyonce, Dido, Alicia Keys, Three Doors Down, No Doubt, Kenny Chesney (he has improved,) Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson..

BTW, I do agree about Garbage. But I strongly disagree with many DUers about today's music.

20. I wish I could listen to it at work
I used to play my cds on the computer that I had at work. My boss said it was alright. Some of the production people found out and gave me crap about it since they aren't allowed to have radios. Then evil partner walked in my lab one day and had a problem with the music I was listening to at the moment (Pink) but hadn't had a problem with Rob Zombie. A few weeks later, my computer died. The computer that they gave me to replace it didn't play cds. I don't think that it was just a coincidence.
Anyway, I have an anxiety disorder and sometimes have panic attacks. Music helps keep me grounded. When I listen to music, my anxiety doesn't get away from me. The things that I worry about at work probably are more distracting than music for me.
