Do you think people get paid to laugh at Jeff Dunhams jokes?
I've seen a few of his specials and they are so suck ass its unbelievable. Is he trying to be boring? But somehow the crowd that goes to his shows love it. Every time I hear the crowd laugh I wonder what the fuck they are laughing at.

Maybe I can get a job to laugh at Jeff Dunham?

1. i kind of like Peanut - there's a certain dry but scathing wit there
some of his bits are quite funny.

to each his own, though...

3. I've noticed a few "hatred for Dunham" threads here in the past
I know it's not cool here at DU, but I like him and his humor. I think his routine is funny and he is pretty quick witted. I'm not rolling around on the ground busting my ribs, but I am entertained by him. Then again, I was never one to think too hard about this kind of stuff.

4. Dude it's puppets. Many many people love, and go nuts over
puppets. I mean where have you been. Think of the circus or carnival, with puppets. Kids love them. And still do when they grow up.
He has a little humor. After 5 minutes or so I have had enough.
But you do not have to like him if you don't want to. Don't watch.
But the guy has a talent, a wit, a good handful of original jokes, and some stolen ones, like any comedian.
But props. Puppets. That's a guarantee.
Do you envy his success? Why bother. It doesn't detract anything from you.
Be careful, there is far worse stuff on tv. Hey, just get rid of the tv. Problem solved.

6. I can't get to the remote fast enough when he comes on
even if it's just for a half a minute commercial.

I don't know why but he really just grates on my nerves.

Now Wanda Sykes on the other hand, omg, I watched her HBO show again tonight and laughed just as hard as when I saw it a few days ago.

7. 50/50
he has some good bits, but an equal number of crappy bits. His genuine stand up is GARBAGE, though, without a doubt. Anyone at open mic night at a comedy club can do better than that. But his puppet stuff can be alright.
