Thanks for the vibes. Kira did her jump with a yell, and no hesitation
which is more than I can say for a number of the young men, heh. She was smiling when she reached shore but started to cry the moment we hugged her. She's basically been in boot camp and it's been one hell of a shock to her. But she was proud and told her father, "Everybody knows I'm Professor P***t's daughter, so they call me 'Mud P***t'." Heh. Then she was gone again, back to her Company.

I'm so glad it's over. I was crying when she left. It seems my daughter is really and truly grown up.

1. Would you believe I have lived here for 10 years and have yet to see a jump? Glad
she came through it all right. :D

4. Well, yeah, I'd believe it because I've lived here for eighteen years
and never seen the jump, and my now ex-husband has worked there as a professor the entire time. It was really sort of inspirational, and most of the kids came out of the water with HUGE smiles on their faces. One young man was missing a leg from the knee down, and jumped. A friend was waiting on shore with his prosthesis. I was impressed.

7. I worked in the bookstore a couple of summers ago, and I still didn't manage to
get down to the dock before work. LOL But I think my boys have seen it a few times when the jump occurs after public school starts up again. This year we don't start back up until Tuesday so no organized trip down this year.

6. She's going to a maritime college that trains merchant marines,
among other things. A couple programs require some time in the regiment and hers is one of them. She is not going into the military and is loud and proud about that but damn! She's learned how to salute :)

5. Yeah. How neat!
This is her first year there and she's doing systems engineering, so she has to do the regiment the first year. What year is your son? I wonder if he had my ex-husband for physics. :hi:

8. I bet he did.
My son is a junior. Maybe we will meet up at one of the home football games? It's free to get in, hot dogs and sodas are a buck each and then we go to Dennett's for a drink and light dinner on the bay. Perfect, perfect day. If you want to look for us, we stand on the school side of the scoreboard behind the fence and have a golden retriever sporting a bright blue kerchief around his neck.

9. Yea! Go Kira!
:woohoo:

I'm sorry she's getting grief for who her father is, but I'm glad she's doing well.

Your daughter is awesome! She gets that from her Mom. :)
