I managed to burn off the hair on my forearm lighting the grill.
It is a gas grill and I had the top open and the gas running. I was pushing the spark button over and over without it lighting. Finally, this mass of gas surrounding the grill area instantly turned into a hot, blue flame and was gone just as quick. The hair on my forearm had become little curls of ash. I said, "That wasn't supposed to happen."

When I was a stupid kid, I decided to make a propane balloon out of a kitchen trash bag. I lit it with the torch and the same exact thing happened. The top layer of hair on the front half of my head, as well as forearm and even a few eyebrow hair curled into ash.

Anyway, after the grill situation, I went in the house to show my wife. She almost passed out when I told her.

....She had trouble getting air because she was laughing so hard. :eyes:

She said she heard the click-click-click of the sparker for the grill and then heard me saying, "That wasn't supposed to happen." She had no idea what the clicking noise was or what I was talking about until I told her.

It used both gas and propane. He was under the hood, heard a hiss and poof. He wore a ballcap for a month, his face was pink also. Sorry for poking fun at you.

12. I'm poking fun at myself.
It's harmless enough. I wasn't hurt. Just a little surprised.

17. A member of my household (not me) did something *sort of* like that once.
Our (slightly addled) cat briefly stuck her head in a jack-o-lantern that had a lighted candle in it. She was unharmed -- though surprised -- but her whiskers were singed into tight little curls. A cat looks really strange with curly whiskers.
