Good morning Lounge
How are you today?

I should have stayed home. First I wake up with an headache. When I wanted to buy me my daily sweet piece at the bakery I noticed I forgot my money ..... x( My co-worker gave me some money so that I could get me something after all :)
Also when I woke up it was really foggy. I barely saw the house across mine .... it was supposed to be sunny and warm today x(

Today after work I am going to an exhibition with a friend. Here is the link to it. The text is in German but there are pics also. The exhibition is about botanical prints from 5 centuries. http://www.museum-giersch.de/seiten/aktuell.htm

2. Good morning jeff
:hi: :loveya:

I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday.

The picture is taken in a town near Frankfurt, called Gelnhausen. It is a very old town. From Wikipedia: "Gelnhausen was founded by Emperor Frederick Barbarossa in 1170"

Beside the headache I am doing OK. Thanks for asking.

5. Barbarossa ?
Oh,yes Barberousse in French (I'm not sure of the English name).

I didn't know that his reign went back as far as 1170 ! History

is something that I like a lot with Geography. :)

Edited on Wed Jun-17-09 04:25 AM by MissHoneychurch
as I took the info of the English wiki page.

I love history and geography as well. We can learn so much from history but we seem not to be able to.

Edited on Wed Jun-17-09 05:31 AM by jeff30997
it must be far more difficult than over here.I mean the place was settled about 400

years ago by the French then came the British, you add some religious and political figures plus some

battles in the mix and voila ! That covers most of Canadian History.:)

(Argh I'm a slow typer.And I have to double-check everything).

8. Except
that you barely learn anything about the history before 1600 and about the Native Americans. Which is a shame.

We learned mainly the history of Germany but also the French Revolution, Napoleon, Russia in the 19th and 20th Century, the Industrial Revolution and of course the history of the 20th century.

But my history was colored red while I was living in the GDR .... you know, Marx and Engels, the October revolution, the Communists who gave their live in the Third Reich etc.

Edited on Wed Jun-17-09 05:21 AM by jeff30997
They were the evil savages and bla bla bla.But those were the leftovers of

the religious propaganda, before the reforms of the early 60s, that were still being used back in the

mid 70s when I was a kid.The French Revolution,Napoleon,Russia and more I had to learn by reading

and also in college.Growing up in the DDR must not have been easy.

Had a visit with the doctor yesterday, and I'm doing very well - blood pressure is great now thanks to a new medicine from my cardiologist.
I'm happy that I will be around a long time yet to say good morning.

Have a great day - I will look at the link now.

To post pics here you have to have an account at one of the free photosharing pages like Flickr or Photobucket. Once you have an account there you can upload your pictures and then post the link of the picture here.

10. Good morning MissH!
Very nice picture!

Sorry to hear about your headache. Hope it subsides soon. It's difficult to work - to concentrate with a headache.

It's raining here today and it's supposed to rain all day. I'm okay with that but it's supposed to rain tomorrow too, and we've got a golf outing planned. 90 signed up. I really don't know what we're going to do if it rains. I understand they will golf anyway in light rain, but not if there's thunder and lightening involved (that's a given).

That exhibition sounds fabulous! I love those old botanical prints. Not only were they great botanists, they were great artists too.

:hi: :loveya:

Extra hug in hopes that you feel better soon.

headache has disappeared. They sure can be annoying can't they?

You'll have to let us know about the exhibit. You are right, the sketchings are truly extraordinary. I've got a few prints of fish that were taken from a book. They are so fantastic that I had them framed.

I'm heading into work a little early today to prepare for our golf outing tomorrow . . . so wishing you a great rest of the work day, and a fabulous time at the exhibit.

I am starting to catch up on sleep and comfort. I should get up, but the bed won't let me. Zeus would really like to be fed at this point. ;)

30. That would be bad for me
especially since I have my seasonal ticket in it for the public transportation.

Job is working out OK. So far I only worked on Saturdays but I hope that will change next week. Was supposed to work this week in the evenings already but Friday it collided with my work schedule at my main job. That is why I work this Saturday again. It is stressful but I still enjoy it. I hope the money is worth it. I will see in 2 weeks.

23. Good morning Miss Honeychurch.
Sorry to hear about your headache today and I hope it gets better. I was just reading your conversation with Jeff; I don't think I knew you grew up in the GDR. I was wondering yesterday after our conversation about Frankfurt if you were from there or somwhere else.

The wall coming down must have been quite an event in your young life. I remember it well; I remember wishing I were there for that moment in history.

Drinking coffee now with toast and honey. Trying to motivate myself out the door as usual, lol.:hi:

yeah, I grew up in the GDR. Just moved to Frankfurt 7 years ago. But I also lived in South Germany. It was an interesting time. I am more than glad that the wall came down. That way I had a lot more chances and options in my life. Can you imagine that it is 20 years ago that that happened? Such a long time and still not all wounds are healed.

Mmmmm toast with honey :9 I LOVE honey. :D

29. I love honey too.
My dad keeps bees as a hobby and sometimes sends me honey from his hives. But this is honey from the store.

I'll have my strawberries and yogurt when I come back from running.

Did you grow up in a small town or a large one? Was it an adjustment to move to such a large city? Reading that wiki page, I can see Frankfurt is huge. Southern Germany is the only part of Germany I've visited. I liked it very much.

32. Ohhh I bet
your dad's honey tastes delicious. When I visited AirmensMom in TN I "found" Sour wood honey. Damn, that is one yummy honey. Rather light in taste. I brought me back a big glass ..... it isn't like we don't have any honey here :eyes:

I grew up in Jena and Leipzig. Jena is a small town, Leipzig a bit bigger. Still smaller than Frankfurt though. Frankfurt isn't really that big. I still think it is small considering its importance. We have only 700.000 inhabitants.
