Basically, every promoter I've talked to says the same thing, we need someone with an audience.

Uhhh, if you don't showcase new bands, they can never build up the audience you so desire in your establishment. It's going to be an uphill battle. Fortunately, I know other bands like the band playing Thursday night. A headlining band can overrule a promoter any day.
