3. You're welcome
I took video of other falls too but I dropped my camera later and I can't upload that video until I either buy a new camera or a card reader.

7. That rainbow one is awesome,
and the valley view one too. I was at that spot last week, but the lighting wasn't like in your picture. Where were you when you took the shot with the rainbow?

10. The parking lot...
at Bridalveil. Round 4-5 o'clock.

I have been there about a zillion times, So I kind of have the time thing down. I got no problem with sitting for hours to get the shot. For that shot you want the sun on the walls and the shadows on the floor.

The other one is from the beach right after the ElCap turn off. and its right around that same time of day...

Then it is about time to drive to Glacier Point and shoot the sunset....Or Tioga pass looking west.....

11. Thanks
So you're one of the "tripod people" that stand there for hours waiting for the perfect shot. That's how you get those award-winning photos. We did go to Glacier Point, but it was overcast and not the ideal day - but I did get a couple of good photos up there. The next day we drove Tioga Road and it was much sunnier - and we finished around sunset. Got lots of interesting photos there.

14. "Tripod people"...there is a Bob Saget joke there I think!
"They call me the human tripod"

Yeah I use it. And clouds at glacier point is perfect. get some color and diffuse light. When you get the red on the face of Half Dome...Too bad most of my photos of Yosemite are pre-digital age so they are not on my computer and in some box stuffed in a closet.

Here is my friend Larey Young's gallery of Yosemite. http://lyphotography.smugmug.com/gallery/6886283_NJb7A#440535594_EFYaH

talk about incredible.....

15. Thanks... he does beautiful work.
I picked up the term "tripod people" just last week. We were getting ready to leave Glacier Point, and it was pretty much overcast, though the sun did peek out now and then and I got a couple of shots with gauzy sunlight on Half Dome and some of the other areas. But not the red sunset alpenglow on Half Dome, that didn't happen that day. The next day was far sunnier but we were driving Tioga Road that day and would not be able to go back to Glacier Point. Just as we were leaving, other people were arriving and getting out their tripods, and I heard someone remark, "Well the tripod people are starting to show up." I'm still glad we went to Glacier point anyway, although it was far more frightening than I expected. The view is fine as long as you stay back from the wall. But if you go right up to the wall and look over, it is a shocker. 3,000 feet straight down and it gave me the willies. Yet people were sitting and even standing on the wall. A teenage boy walked out on the famous overhanging rock that you see in photos from 100 years ago, despite the warning signs, and posed for a picture. I could not even watch because it was a chilly, windy day and one good gust of wind would have sent him to his death. I don't think people with fear of heights should go to Glacier Point and children should not be brought there, until they are the age where they can understand the danger and act responsibly.

13. What a letdown
I was hoping Sam would be there

That is some great scenery, although the first one looked a lot like Tower Falls of Yellowstone.

16. I looked just like him after a week of not shaving.
And you're right, there is a striking resemblance between Tower Falls at Yellowstone and Bridalveil Fall at Yosemite, although the former is 132 feet and the latter 620 feet, but they do look like cousins.

I'm heading out that way in August. It will be my first time, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

18. Thanks... although
you can expect the waterfalls to have a lower flow in August than in this video, because they are mostly snowmelt. Sometimes by August (in years of below-average snowfall) Yosemite Falls may be completely dry. Thunderstorms with a lot of rain may re-awaken it temporarily, but that is hit or miss. You will still find plenty of beauty even if the waterfalls are skimpy on the water. The landscape itself is stunning, even shocking, and there are plenty of beautiful sights to see in any season.
