Got two free tix to the Indy 500 tomorrow.

Buddy called me last night and asked if I could use them, and of course I said yes. Guy he works with gets tickets every year, but this year has other family doings, so he gave them to my friend.

So, buddy and his wife, me and the daughter are going to see the 500. Weather should be great, hope to see a good race.

I remember the night before race day looking out the back window of the hugemongous Impala we were in and seeing the street partying going on. We were on our way to the country club for dinner. sigh

Another buddy of mine used to go every year, since he was a kid back in the sixties. His dad ran an engineering firm that owned some investment casting patents that were sought out by Offenhauser, but he refused to license out the patents to them, afraid that the techniques would get away from his control.

So they drove a dump-truck full of money up to his house and bought the entire company from him instead.
