And I had forgotten I had a copy of Philip Glass - Orion until this thread, so I'm listening to that now :)

15. It's an early work of his, about 3.5 hours long.

Taking what he learned in Music in Contrary Motion and Music in Fifths and other late 60s pieces, and pulling it all together in his first long time-scale piece, written from 1971-1974.

It's a fantastic work. I've heard one or two parts of it live, performed by the Glass ensemble, but missed it on a tour a few years ago when they were doing (I think) the whole thing; or, perhaps more likely, a shortened version (fewer repeats).

The ensemble did a recording of the whole 3.5 hour kit and kaboodle about ten years ago.
