I just finished reading "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy

Wow, that was one amazing book. Yeah, it's a complete downer, but aside from that, it's fascinating. I'm really impressed with how McCarthy captures the desperate nature of the world and the characters. The one image at the end of the book that really hit me was his description of the ocean as "a lead colored sea".

I highly recommend it to anyone. It's simple but very direct language usage offers a heart wrenching bleakness I haven't read since 1984.
