So I finally broke down and got on Facebook.

1. I know - it really is a time machine

I got on to find out what it was about (after my 17 year old got an identity). A few months later, I hear from a girlfriend I from like 1979 - and she's still friends with the girl I was dating before her! So now I've got both as friends. Weird, eh?

I'm friends with a bunch of people from high school who I didn't think even knew who I was back then (my graduating class had 700 people in it, and I walked through commencement next to a guy I had never even seen before). I've actually become good friends with a few of them, and even hang out with them on occasion. Not to mention all the college friends who I knew better and tended to keep in touch with.

So yeah, Facebook may be used for evil on occasion, but on the other hand it's great for not-very-social people like me who still like to keep in touch.
