Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon? You know he plays for Oakland.
Police arrested former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Cornell Green on domestic battery charges as he was about to board an airplane for Oakland Saturday afternoon.

Police said Green, who plays for the Oakland Raiders, used an aluminum mop handle to hit Teriyonal Flowers, 30, who is the mother of two of Green's children, about 2:20 p.m. Saturday.

The incident started with an argument at their home, 10758 Plantation Bay Drive, Tampa. Green slammed Flowers against a wall, and then used the mop handle to hit her at least once on the right arm, the Tampa Police Department said. Green then drove away.

Police learned he had a 5:30 p.m. flight to Oakland and arrested Green at Tampa International Airport before he boarded the plane.

Green, 32, is in the Orient Road Jail charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is being held without bond, jail records show.

I fear this trifecta (1. Oakland Raider 2. Assaulting a woman 3. Florida) wouldn't have paid very high as the odds were pretty favorable.

1. Ah, the Florida to Oakland connection.
A wink is as good as a nod to a blind man.

And who says the NFL doesn't have a retirement plan? What do you call the Oakland Raiders?

3. Speaking as a victim of Domestic Violence, YES! Throw his ass in jail!
Slamming her into a wall and then hitting her with a broom handle is definately a violent threat. Who is to say he wouldn't beat her over the head and to death with that broom handle?

I don't care if he plays football for God. Here's my LAST domestic violence arrest. And it totally dismisses all the injuries and xrays I endured before this 4th arrest.

Send the fucker to jail.

4. I'd sure hate to see such an important person go to jail.
I know that was not your point, and that you would not condone Domestic Violence.

5. Absolutely not.
He's obviously an idiot, hence my dig on the Raiders (the uber violent dumping ground of the NFL). One nice thing I can say about the greater Tampa area is that they take domestic violence pretty seriously. They don't care how rich nor famous you are.

Hillsborough County (where Tampa is) is one of the "if we get called out for a domestic violence call, no matter what, someone is going to jail" areas.

6. I know you didn't mean it as a dig. The story just raised my ire.

8. Try posting in the sports forum.
The reactions will be quite scary, and many of them way off target.

Someday, this nation will actually take domestic violence seriously.

7. Chuck Noll was right
when he made his remarks about the "criminal element" playing for Oakland.
