Well crap. Lost another jazz great. Blossom Dearie has passed away
<snip>
Blossom Dearie, the jazz pixie with a little-girl voice and pageboy haircut who was a fixture in New York and London nightclubs for decades, died on Saturday at her apartment in Greenwich Village. She was 82.

6. Just found out. I LOVE Blossom Dearie. I'm listening to her right now as I type.
I first heard of her a few years ago on some jazz radio station that's probably now long gone with tinny, twangy crap or screaming right-wingers. It took one song (don't remember what it was) and I was hooked. Bought a few CDs and listen to them for a pick-me-up.

My favorite Blossom CD is "Blossom Dearie" from The Diva Series on Verve. It starts out with her rendition of "I'm Hip." Can't beat that with a stick.

7. wow, she had a really interesting and long career!

And she wrote "Peel me a grape" and some other cool classic tunes, too, like Bye Bye Country Boy. Plus she hung out with Frischberg and those folks. Pretty cool.

sad to see any of those old-school jazz folk go.

Her voice was a (delicate) ray of sunshine.
