4. Boring so far. No pevs out tonight.
Plus, I have to stay plausibly sober until my wife places her good night call. After that: Raise the roof! NOBODY SLEEPS TONIGHT!

...sorry... B-)

Okay, probably not. B-) I'll be thinking about Mrs. Aristus...

31. Okay, yes I was.
Drunk enough to stagger around my barracks room reading Walt Whitman at the top of my lungs. (Don't worry. Everyone else was even drunker than me.)

A couple of years later, I got hammered at a Straight-GLBT mixer. A friend of mine propositioned me, knowing I was straight and hoping to prove that all straights swing that way now and again. I told him: "Look, Charlie. I love you, but I'm saving myself for those hot looking straight women playing strip poker in the breakfast nook." So there are STILL some things I won't do! ;-)

11. Yeah, and it's the funniest show on television.
Seriously, I like Brit humour, but his show is just way over the top. My sides usually hurt by the end.

15. I now have the auction on mute, listening to The Gourds.
They're playing here in 3 weeks or so (well, in Ballard), and I want to go.

www.thegourds.com in case you've never heard of them.

play The Tractor Tavern in Ballard, though, you should go see them. You may run in to me and my brother. :-)

25. I'm shuffling itunes right now.
The Cult's 'Love' was just on.

On now, 'Curve' by John Petrucci, after that 'Motorcycle Driver' by Joe Satriani, then 'Runaway Run' by Hanson.

How 'Motorcycle Driver' got in there, I have no idea.

27. Yeah, that is a great, simple--but great, riff
The problem I have with that album, and song, is it's too trebly. Gotta adjust the stereo/computer etc. to get it to sound right.

Of course when wasted in a bar/club and it's pounding away and you got a tequila in front of ya..it's never sounded better.

32. Elbow, "The Seldom Seen Kid"
I left it off my top ten of 2008* by accident, because I'm an idiot. Best lyrics of the year.

"The Bones of You"

So I'm there
Charging around with a juggernaut brow
Overdraft, speeches and deadlines to make
Cramming commitments like cats in a sack
Telephone burn and a purposeful gait

When out of a doorway the tentacles stretch
Of a song that I know
And the world moves in slow-mo
Straight to my head
like the first cigarette of the day

And it's you, and it's May
And we're sleeping through the day
And I'm five years ago
And three thousand miles away

Do I have
time? A man of my calibre
Stood in the street like a sleepwalking teenager
No.
And I dealt with this years ago
I took a hammer to every memento
But image on image like beads on a rosary
pulled through my head as the music takes hold
and the sickener hits; I can work till I break
but I love the bones of you
That, I will never escape

And it's you, and it's May
And we're sleeping through the day
And I'm five years ago
And three thousand miles away

And I can't move my arm
Through the fear that you will wake
And I'm five years ago
And three thousand miles away
