1. How old are you? How pleased with the results are you?
My son, Johnny, was born with bi-lateral cleft lip and palate four years ago. He's had his palatoplasty and lip repair but I'm scared of upcoming bone grafting and MAJOR dental work.

Please tell me it isn't as bad for him as it sounds and that it's all worth it.

P.S. Where are my manners? Congrats! My absolute best wishes!

5. Hi Leeroy!

I remember having bone grafting done. I was older than four, but it wasn't so bad!
Being born with cleft lip and palate was nothing short of a blessing. Well, as close to a blessing as an atheist can believe in, anyway.

The things i've been through have contributed greatly to the compassionate person I am today! I can't be too much of a screw up, seeing as how I'm a DUer ;)

In the end, it IS all worth it!

But anyway, I'm sure your son will be fine. The procedures they are able to do today are so improved compared to what was available to me just 20 years ago.
Every time I'm in the hospital for an appointment I see young parents bringing their infants in. They are always so relieved to see me, looking pretty much normal and happy. It's always weird for me, too, seeing people just a few years older than me bringing their own children in, but that's a different story..

And thanks! It's been an adventure.. Good luck with your son, he'll turn out great!

Edit: Oh yeah, I'm 21.. I am extremely please with the results overall. The doctors at NYU are amazing.

9. Thank you for the boost of inspiration
Congrats and good luck. Oh, that's not a question. Do you go to NYU? My son goes there.

10. I might for Grad School
Currently I'm a student at SUNY Oswego. I'm looking at doing volunteer work and then applying at Columbia, NYU, and a few others for graduate studies.

Quite the accomplishment on your sons part, though. Would be a dream come true for me..

And thanks. :)
