Has Anyone Been at WAL-MART During One of Their Early Morning Pep Meetings?
OK, my friend and I were in WAL-MART this morning trying to finish our Christmas Shopping. As we were were shopping we saw a group of employees huddled in this circle right in the middle of the aisle. I am thinking, WTF? Don't they have break rooms for these daily meetings? I over heard the Manager motivating these poor employees and could not keep a straight face.He started chanting and clapping and then he raised his voice declaring they are all winners! Everyone started clapping and whistling, and were just too damn rowdy for me this early in the morning.I literally felt embarrassed for all of them. IMO,this is very unprofessional for them to do out in the open for the customers to have to see. Has anyone else witnessed this before?

I shit you not. It was in the paper what good little Christians they all were and how "inspirational" the new manager is. :scared: :tinfoilhat:

17. According to the newspaper article, everyone liked it.

Knowing this bunch around here, they probably really do/did too. I wish the search function was better at the Daily Journal's web site to find archives articles. It was just a few years ago that it was in the paper. I think it was either 2002 or 2003 that they had a front page article about it.

I've tried searching it online, but I happened to see where they said a man was "shot in the back of his chest." ??? :wtf: http://www.yourdailyjournal.com/articles/2008/12/17/news/news01.txt

16. They do it though.
It was in the paper. The manager was proudly talking about how they all looked forward to it every morning. I don't know if they still have the same manager now. It was in the Daily Journal about 4 or 5 years ago. I remember reading it and being glad I didn't work there any more. :puke:

27. I loved the 1990s too.
Great music, neat movies, cool president (post 1992), good economy, country at peace.

But let's face it. That's all ancient history. These aren't your father's cowpokes.

6. Just before the Best Buy opened here, they'd go across the street and do chants and calisthenics
in front of the Circuit City.

Seriously.

8. You laugh, but guess who's going bankrupt?
Clearly chants and calisthenics had quite an effect on the poor Circuit Citians, who were busy tazering people without a reciept.

12. would never set foot in a Wal Mart but I've heard of the rallies
The forced pep rally is truly pathetic. Do they really think if anyone had a choice they’d be working there? No one is happy being a slave for the great blue Satan and they are only made to feel worse about their work lives by being forced to pretend they have company “spirit”.

My company, a major bank, recently had a “spirit rally” in the theme of a football tail gate party where they face painted corporate logos and colors and had a shouting contest over who had the most "Spirit” for working there. I called in sick that day.

20. I interviewed for BlockBuster video once, when I was in college
and the manager mentioned "huddles". Then we talked about our degrees, and he had the same degree I had, and I wanted to throw up. I can't do huddles outside of sports. Fuck you.
