Any parents of 8 year olds here?
I've been assigned an 8 year old boy to buy gifts for for a local agency. The note I got just said he likes "books, games, jigsaw puzzles". We're not supposed to spend more than $75. What books and/or games do 8 year old boys like?

Thanks for any help! :hi:

1. Harry Potter.
As far as games go, maybe Clue or Monopoly? Those are always a hit.

Thank you. I didn't know if Clue or Monopoly were 8 year old levels.
This helps. Thanks! :hi:

9. My 7-year-old grandson
plays Monopoly very well. And he likes Life and Backgammon. He does jigsaw puzzles with 300 pieces. An 8-year-old might be interested in 300-500 pieces. He likes Narnia and Disney's Cars themes. Oh, and he also LOVES Legos. (Does anyone ever outgrow Legos?)

2. Look for titles that have won the Newberry Award
-- excellent children's literature.

And get him _James and The Giant Peach_ and _Charlie and the Chocolate Factory_. Can't miss.

4. I have an eight year old boy.
I recommend Bakugan, Pokemon, and Naruto toys. That stuff is HUGE with my son and his friends right now.

5. See, I would not have known this, although I little boy at church Sunday
made a point of hanging around at Coffee Hour to show me his new Pokemon toy that he got for his b-day. He's a bit younger than 8, though. Which is why I asked.

Thanks!

6. Pokeman, Starwars, and Newberry Book Winner
As far as board games, things that make noise were a big hit, like Trouble with Pop-o-matic.

Oh, and get him those nerf guns and he'll worship you.

8. Seconded the nerf guns.
If you get these, grab a replacement pack of the darts too.

7. LK's 7 1/2.
He loves games, so I can probably help some. He's pretty into the relatively classic board games (Monopoly, Sorry, etc) and card games like Uno. He tends to get bored with kid versions of games after a few tries, because they're too easy.

As far as books go, he prefers non-fiction stuff that focuses on science, but I don't know that that's typical for the age.

10. My recently-turned-nine-year-old is a girl...
I don't think he'd want Littlest Pet Shop stuff or NeoPets, but he might like puppies! She loves stuff with puppies on it. :)

She also loves Webkins.

Good luck. :hi:
