ice storms suck
Edited on Sun Dec-14-08 12:26 PM by malta blue
Power was restored late yesterday (Saturday) after going out late Thursday.

I have many downed limbs in the yard and the power company has trimmed the pine trees in front of my house.

I spent all day Friday and Friday night here in the house, leaving Saturday morning when it was 48 in my living room. I was lucky that an old friend and exDuer had power gave me and the Little MB warm place to sleep. The coldest it got was 42 :scared:

Oh, and I have been sick throughout the entire ordeal x(

1. That's awful
Sorry your power was out so long. My sister lost it for about a day and went to my parents. Driving home on Friday night was terrifying because all the street lights and traffic lights were out. The only light was my headlights and I got a little lost because of all the detours from downed trees and power lines. :scared:

2. when I ventured out on Friday afternoon
I could not get to the grocery store via my normal route - many detours due to lines and trees. I made sure to try and get home by dark because I was worried about the obstacles.

3. This was a very destructive storm
A couple in Glenville died from carbon monoxide poisoning from their generator. :( My parents knew them from their church.

4. I heard about that....
On Friday, a woman at the Glenville Price Chopper suggested I go buy a generator too. :scared:

I am looking to convert my gas FP back to wood. I would have been able to stay home if I could have made fire....

7. I saw a downed power line shooting huge sparks...
just like in the scene with Elijah Wood. It was after dark but it lit up the sky like it was the middle of the day. :scared:

8. I'm glad you have power
and that you're back in your home. I'm sorry to hear you've been sick.

I still don't have power, and it's been since Thursday for me too.
