Can you identify this object?
It's part of project I'm working on, just thought it might be fun to post since it isn't something you see every day. A mega fist-bump goes to the first correct answer. :fistbump:

29. 3rd try
8 - ROTARY section: One element of the classic drawbar organ sound came from the associated speaker cabinet, which featured a
two-speed motor that rotated the horn of the high-end speaker (tweeter) and the drum of the low-end speaker (woofer). This was a
mechanical process that required a few moments of speeding up or slowing down. The Rotary Speaker effect on the OB32 recreates this
distinctive sound. The OB32 also recreates the distinctive gritty sound of the classic speaker units that resulted from their tube amplifiers,
and this is controlled by the Overdrive knob:evilgrin:

39. I have a fair sized collection
The mrs calls it a bunch of junk laying around :(

This one is only a single rotor leslie, it came out of a '69 model Hammond T-series spinet, it was mounted internally. I'm building a cabinet for it and am going to wire up a footswitch so our keyboard player can use it with the drawbar module. It won't sound exactly like a B3, but it will be close enough and beats the hell out of carrying a 500lb organ around!

Lucky for Mr. bunnies... we *both* play. And we both made a living for years buying and selling gear. I deal in the vintage stuff... mostly effects. Whereas Mr. bunnies deals with the digital hoo-haa and amps.

Damn straight. I'd take any part of a old B3 over any of the simulators hands down. The digital shit doesnt even come close to authentic sound, imho. Your keyboard player must be psyched! What a cool project. I bet it'll rock when youre done with it!

43. yeah, he's pretty psyched
He's been using a korg something or other straight into a keyboard amp, the B3 patches in it are certainly nothing to write home about. At leats with the Oberheim he's going to get real time drawbar and percussion control and a better B3 sound, with the leslie it will be even better. I just have to figure out what I'm going to use for an amp for it. I have a spring reverb tank I'm going to mount in the cab when I build it too.

That will kick some serious ass. To me, its just begging to be hooked up to an old Roland Space Echo. mmmm tape delay. *drool*
Have you ever heard of or used a Trace Elliot Amp?! Way underrated, imo - so good deals aren't that hard to come by. I have a soft spot for those and Boogies myself - oh and Budda. Budda rules.

49. I might still have
a roland space echo hanging around, I'll have to look in the store room and see. Yea, I have heard of all those amps, I like the trace amps for bass a lot. Whatever I use with this leslie, it will have to be pretty low power unless I change the speaker. It has an 8", the original from 1969, and I think the internal organ amp was only 40 watts, solid state to boot, so a 15-20 watt tube amp would be about all she could take unless I go with a more modern speaker.

56. Ahhh. I see.
I should have thought of that - since you said it came from an organ. Doh.

Geez. I remember hearing about a 15w amp that sounded incredible - but I cant for the life of me think of the name. More than likely it was some obscenely priced boutique jobby.

At any rate... I'd want to keep the speaker too. For sure. I wonder, would some sort of pre-amp work?

48. hey
since you're into the vintage stuff, do you know how to wire this thing up? It's a 2 speed, so it has 2 motors stacked on top of each other, fast and slow. There was a rocker switch on the organ for speed control, but I want to wire it up with a footswitch. It has black, brown and gray wires coming out of the harness. I want to assume the black is common and the brown and gray are for each of the speeds, but I can't find anything definitive on the net and I certainly don't want to burn it up in the process.

52. I wouldnt be able to say with any certainty...
I've never actually had one apart or looked into it at all. The strange thing about the 60's - and I learned this the hard way with an Italian Vox Wah, it seems theres very little consistency with parts/wiring.

I will ask Mr. bunnies when he gets home though... he does way more of the fixing / wiring than I do. Plus, he knows how to make footswitches for just about anything.

Have you seen this page? http://www.keyboardpartner.de/hammond/t-modifications.htm Maybe something there that could help?
