I Don't Like Mondays.
I knew of the Tori Amos cover version, but today, I heard the Boomtown Rats original today for the first time. What an incredible song. And what an amazing group! I had never heard them before. They sound a little like Queen. What an eye-opener. Can anyone recommend any other Boomtown Rats songs for me to download?

BTW, right now, I'm listening to "Prince Igor" by Borodin.

2. I can believe it. Do they have any other good ones?
I'm trusting you even though LynneSin says you're an elitist snob... :P

3. And, she would be right.
I have the album (yup, I said album) and liked the whole thing. I would look into that. I'm not sure what else they did, (it was a while ago and well, I'm old) but I really did like that album.

4. 2 great albums - "Tonic for the Troops" and "Fine Art of Surfacing"
the 2nd has "I Don't Like Mondays" on it, which, it should be noted, is not a typical Boomtown Rats song - they're mainly a straightforward guitar/piano group. "Diamond Smiles" and "Someone's Looking At You" were the other 2 singles from that album; I prefer the previous one, 'Tonic for the Troops'. Both got into the top 10.

They were far more successful in the UK that the US - I've seen them called a 'one hit wonder' here, but IDLM was their 2nd number 1 single in the UK - the first, 'Rat Trap', is great, I think, and memorably knocked John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John off the number 12 spot, when it seemed like they'd be there forever.

8. I have one of those albums somewhere -

we often refuse to have no taste here in the US. Nice to see more Britpop floating our way lately, though, even on the radio.

10. I had no idea Tori Amos remade this song.
:\

Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats are awesome.

The Fine Art of Surfacing is my favorite. http://www.amazon.com/Fine-Art-Surfacing-Boomtown-Rats/dp/B00076SJPA/ref=pd_bxgy_m_img_b

"The Best of" is also a good collection. http://www.amazon.com/Best-Boomtown-Rats/dp/B0001W0FDY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1228851049&sr=8-1

12. The Fine Art of Surfacing...
Hm... I think I had that but I don't remember anything on it.

Do they have a song that goes "Up all night oooh ooh oooh say say... stayin up all night"?

Sorry... you're not the resident Boomtown Rats expert... just wondering aloud. Or, in type.

17. I thought it was something like "African jungles, big city streets...
beep beep, beep beep yeah!"

It's been a long while since I've heard it. :)

19. Ah - I was thinking of this one:
...
Snap me in your breach, I want to be your bullet
I want a little kiss that's gonna take my breath away
And every lover tries to do things in a different way
Ah-hey-hey-hey

Does it feel nice, does it feel right, does it feel alright
Does it feel good - quite nice
Can you keep it up, can you keep it up - upright
Does it let you down - I heard it let you down - sometimes
...
Give it up - can you keep it up - Sometimes - I heard it let you down
Alright - Can you keep it up - All night - I heard it let you down
Quite nice - Can you keep it up - I heard it let you down
Can you keep it up - I heard it let you down
Can you keep it up
