2. My dear Heidi!
Oh, this is wonderful!

But of course, since we've come to expect this level of craftsmanship from you...

A commission? Someone else knows how good you are...

Congrats, sweetie!

5. Thank you, Peggy,
for your kind words. You know, I do consider art a matter of craftmanship, and it has been a long road of learning for me, since I had absolutely no appreciation for chemistry when I started down this path.

Seriously, thank you for your kind words, my friend. If this little collage made your day a little more engaging, my work is done.

9. Thank you, gf.
Maybe you could help me about some Indian goddesses? I've no idea where to begin, but I'm in love with the colors, vintage apparel and mythology of India. :loveya:

I will PM or email you in the next few days. I have in my files a photo of a beautiful Indian-American woman whose sultry eyes would be _perfect_ in a collage. ;)

12. Thank you, krispos.
It takes many hours of going through many, many, many boxes and folders of collected ephemera, then a ton more hours and layers and materials to help a viewer feel "wow" or engaged. I'm glad you're wow-y.

11. Interesting phrase
See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil, come from Japaneese lore.

Googled it, interesting back story to the phrase.

13. Yes, we goddesses are monkeys, all of us.
;)

"See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" is a wise phrase I grew up with in Oklahoma/Arkansas/Kentucky, and knew nothing of the back story until I began piling through the books in my studio and our den. :hi:

22. Hey! Nice to
see you. Yes, I think we're on here at different times. I'm generally on here in the early morning, and hop on for a while after work.

I'm sure one of these times we'll catch each other.

And I do truly enjoy your art! Please keep sharing.

All I can say is:

MAGNIFICENT!

Beautiful work.

I'm having a great time making these little pieces; they're really time consuming, but they indulge my love of history, mythology, etc., and force/allow me to prowl through all of the collage materials in my studio. It's nice to be able to give old stuff a new life in art. :)

I show my work two or three times a year, and these works were prepared for the current group exhibit. Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm extremely fortunate to be able to do what I do.

P.S. Are you and I from the same state?

34. Not originally...
but I have been living in OK for just over 11 years now, and I know you are from here also.

I am an art lover who never had the money to continue my education and now have no room or time to persue my own, but I do know what I love to see. It always strikes something within me and that says, "Yes! That is wonderful!"

There's _always_ time and room to make art. I appreciate insights from people like you who have some art education; I have none and I had to start from scratch in 1999 when I began painting.

36. I'll look forward to hearing from you. :0)
My entire education consisted only of my entire senior year in HS; I took nothing else except the required Government class. I had a fabulous teacher who really stretched the boundaries. It was extraoridinary! I wanted to go on to continue in college but we couldn't afford it. But I was left and still retain a great appreciation for art.

27. Hi, fellow arteest!!!
I swear I saw a pencil drawing thread OP of yours, and now can't find it! I wish there were a life drawing class near me; I can get a good likeness with oils and a brush, but drawing with pencils is terribly intimidating. You, gf, have talent!

30. I only use it suspended in a binder,
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 12:05 PM by Heidi
like gel medium alone or linseed oil with a little Liquin. For watercolor or gouache, it can be suspended in gum Arabic. Nacre also can be mixed directly directly into wet paint, and I guess some people sprinkle it on top of wet paint, but sprinkling on top of wet paint isn't something I'd recommend. :hi:
