This is so weird,,,,I'm not going to watch the Oscars.
Normally, the Oscars is something I look forward to. But I just don't have any interest in them tonight.

I feel sort of strange....like I'm one of the 5 people in the world not tuning in.

Maybe I'm starting to get tired of self-congratulatory awards shows.

1. Why is that weird?
I'm not going to watch either. In fact, until I read your post, I didn't even know they were tonight. :-)

(Of course, I figured they must be coming up soon with all the hype going around.)

26. I can't name ONE movie made this past year! Or last several years!
Tell me, are Lionel Barrymore, Gary Cooper and Spencer Tracy still making movies?? What about that litte Pickford girl??? :-)

3. We'll probably miss most of them
We were up really late last night, and our birds started squawking too early, and we're both really exhausted.

We'll record the Oscars so we can fast-forward to any important moments, and watch the "people who died in the last year" montage.

19. Make that 7
I've only see the Oscars once, back in the 70s, and turned it off halfway through because it was just so damn boring.

5. You Have Just Earned Yourself Ten Demerits!!!
Your status of being a homo in good standing is in jeopardy young man. Either watch the Oscars tonight, or convert 10 people by midnight tonight.

The council has spoken.

7. Yikes!!!
Oh, oh....I know what the council can do! And I know I can't convert 10 people by midnight...

Ok, I'll watch PART of the Oscars! (I DO get up rather early in the morning, so I can't watch the whole thing)

How can I get rid of those 10 demerits??

8. Your Appeal Has Been Heard...
And upon reflection, the Council has reconsidered our original, hasty and overly harsh decision.

In consideration of the low expectations for this years Academy awards... you must at least watch through the opening number and the 'In Memoriam' year-in-review of the talent that bid us a final farewell during the past year.

That is all.

Ok, I'll watch the opening number and the "In-Memoriam".

I was afraid the worst would happen...my gay card would be revoked. And again...yikes!!!

20. One Would Think So... But We Looked Over His Conversion Records
Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 06:52 PM by arwalden
for 2003-2004 and we found that he far exceeded all expectations particularly with others in his age group. He also got additional points for breaking up a "holy matrimony" hetero marriage and converting BOTH into the Queer lifestyle after their divorce. :hi:

And in consideration of such accomplishments and in setting a stellar example for others to follow, we felt that in this case, leniency was in order.

She's become a characature of herself. I don't know whether to laugh or to shake my head in disbelief.

I usually end up laughing. But not WITH her--if you know what I mean.

My god, seeing that woman's face. Plastic surgery gone horribly awry. She's looks so scary these days.

I'm afraid Melissa might follow Mom's lead.

but somebody must....I watched last year because of Michael Moore's movie being up for an award and I wanted to see if anti-war views were going to be espoused.

24. Back in college, I always caught up with studying on this night.
I never went to movies, because they were boring and put me to sleep, and I still do not. But my roomies and friends ALL were totally into this Oscar thing, and went down to the TV room in the dorm. I did my 'homework' then, but was always annoyed when they came back after the show, just BABBLING about crap that I knew nothing about, and cared even less.

Oscar Night: the most BORING night of the year (other than December 24th).

27. Hey, that's not weird.
I have NEVER seen an Oscars show. Never. Never will, either. Just don't care, and there are millions of us out here who don't care. Join the big and happy club!

I'm reading a knitting book and planting some chives seeds in ceramic pots this evening, and I invite you to join me in any similar worthwhile activity.

28. I never watch the Oscars
I haven't since 1978-Annie Hall won best picture over STAR WARS!!!!
COME ON!!!!!
The Oscars are way too political. It has nothing to do with quality really, just how the Academy feels.

30. For the first time since probably
1978, when I was thirteen, I don't give a shit either. And for the first time since 1978, I haven't seen ANY of the movies, and I've usually seen most of the nominated movies.

I just don't care this year, which is weird because normally I camp out in front of the TV and watch every second of the show every year.

Part of it may be that I knew that that damned LOTR movie would likely get most of the awards, which it has so far, btw, and I think I'm the only person in America who DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT AND COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT LOTR, and is sick to death of even hearing about it. I hate it when movies I don't like and don't care about are the focus of an Oscar show. So I'm about to go to bed now, when I would normally be up for the whole thing.

And another thing-the damn speeches this year have been so goddamned boring, even for the Oscars, that I just can't believe it. One winner seemed like he was reading all the names in his entire fucking address book, he just droned on and on and on with names and thank yous, and most of the other speeches have been just as bad. WHO CARES??????????????
