Ever have one little thing ruin an entire day?
For me, it's my lousy sense of directions. I was supposed to meet friends somewhere after work, but I couldn't find the place. I felt really embarrassed and stupid for not being able to find it, but I really suck with directions. Anyway, I gave up and went home. I hate feeling this way, but it really puts me in a lousy mood. My sense of directions is an embarrassment to me, I wish I knew what to do about it.
Sigh. Anyway, that blew my Friday.

1. Funny you should mention it!
I had a very busy day at work today. It was constant from the word go and it never let. All morning long, it was relentless, but I got into a groove and figued in the end that I did what I needed and got everything covered that needed to be covered.
BUT! Just as my shift was coming to an end, I got a call about something, and it sounded pretty bad, so I did what I needed to get someone to cover the story.
Instead of turning a photographer around who was pretty close, I sent one from the city which took a little longer.
We still got the sotry and it was covered, but now my boss is questioning why it took so long for me to react.

8 hours of non stop hell where I felt I did what needed to be done and was happy with what I did, and one little slip and that gets questioned.
Hindsight is so fucking 20/20.

3. I know the feeling...
Lately, I've been trying to work on conscious mood changes. That is, "I do not enjoy feeling this way, I'm going to choose to feel differently."

Sounds like you could use a GPS :)

4. Like some colleagues of mine say....

No one got hurt. We got what we needed and it's water under the bridge and we continue to do our best.
I'm not going to get fired or anything, but I am the kind of person who does overthink decisions sometimes and wonder how I could have done something better, or more efficiently. But I won't make excuses...if I fuck up, I'll own it, pure and simple...too many buck passers in this world.

7. Yes
Eating a bowl of raisin bran one groggy morning, wondering why it was tasting so weird, and upon closer examination discovering the whole box was full of little red ants.

9. This is where you call Midlo and have her Mapquest it for you.
Because as we all know, she's never more than 2 feet from the computer.

Edited on Fri Nov-07-08 07:51 PM by DarkTirade
and before I had a cel phone too. Had to drive around in circles looking for a gorram payphone. It was s'posed to be a nice day, meeting a friend who was in town for a day or two who I hadn't seen in months, ect. Ended up kinda crappy.

13. I know exactly what you mean. It might be a bit pricey, but invest in a GPS. My wife finally forced
me to get one by getting it for me for xmas and I can't tell you how much it helps me while driving around in places that I'm not familiar with. It really is a great investment to help with getting around and you can get a good one for under 200 bucks now.
