53. Yes. He feels entitled. It's his turn.
There is supposed to be a show-election and an opponent he can easily defeat, and a rigged election he is guaranteed to win, and then he expects to rule for a while. Then, he gets to step down and go on speaking tour vacations, and sit on the boards of organizations and people give him a lot of money for doing nothing.

That's just the way life is supposed to go for a select few, and John McCain is determined to make it work that way for him to prove that he's part of that elite.

Just as it was Dole's turn in '96. When you reach a certain age as a Republican in Congress, you get to be president. I think it's in the Constitution.

18. A weird, twisted do-over of his 2000 primary campaign.
He's furious about how he got screwed out of the nomination by the Connecticut Cowboy, who also used wealth and privilege to become a bad jet pilot, but didn't have the decency to get shot down over Vietnam and be tortured for five years. This time, by courting the trogs who supported the Clown Prince last time, he managed to win the nomination. Sadly, McCain is not the man he was in 2000 (and I wouldn't have voted for him then, either...) and now that he has the nom, he doesn't know what to DO with it! He's bitter and frustrated that the last eight years were probably also the last eight years of his life in which he could have been a measurably effective President. He's done.

We still have to battle it out with the "Obama's an Ay-rab" psycho hose-beasts right up until Election Day. But I think it's safe to say McCain is done. Just done. I'm almost sorry to assert my belief that he'll live the rest of his life filled with rage and regret...

The last time I got dressed up for Halloween was in college for a History project. I dressed up as St. Clare of Assisi, with a brown habit. She was the first Franciscan nun and they wear brown and sandals.

I wish I still had that costume because I'd restyle it to be a fighting nun with a double-bladed axe.

And your idea sounds amazingly awesome. Axe wielding nuns FTW!

35. IMHO, John McCain was a viable candidate in 2000 and should have had the nomination,
but Bush* stole it from him, just as he stole the election from Gore, with "dirty tricks," like the phone campaign in SC.

Back then, I kind of admired him, since he seemed to take on the administration more than the Democrats did. But that was eight years ago. Since then he has learned that if he had any chance of becoming the Republican nominee, he'd have to do a 180, and has supported Bush* every chance he gets.

I didn't understand it at first, either, but that's how it was explained to me. He's willing to cast aside everything he previously thought and believed for the chance to become president. Unfortunately, age has caught up with him, and he has made one bad decision after another, gets confused, and is obviously no longer even up to the job of being the nominee.

I blame Bush* and his minions for McCain's downfall. McCain says he forgives Bush* for 2000, saw him say this on Larry King, I think, but he had to say this to get what he wanted. I don't forgive Bush*, and neither should he.

That's just the way I see it, my friend. And age hasn't improved his temperament, which is going to cost him this win too...

49. Kicking the country in the nuts
Personally I think they're just laughing at us. Granted that McCain's liberalism was fake, he had people going for a little while. Imagine what it must be like to be him and have this be the last political move of your life. I think they're just dragging him through the mud for daring to rebel, even a little bit, in the first place.

But mainly they're making America the laughingstock of the world. Even the poorest of third-world nations won't take McCain seriously unless he bombs something big, and even then he's not a leader, he's an idiot with a gun. And you know what happens to an idiot with a gun when they take his gun away...

And what do the "serious" politicians and diplomats of the world think of Palin as VP?

Elvis Costello's song "Tramp The Dirt Down" tells the story nicely from a British perspective.

54. He wanted to win at any cost, but he is such a nasty little shit
even those who should be his supporters hate him.
Personally he is a repellant, juvenile little man who takes no responsibility for an wrong, and is furious when others don't give him the respect he feels is his due.

He would be a worse president that even W, and even people high in his party are realising that.

It is about ego, power, and a little mental illness.

And maybe a tiny dick.
