So, I'm hosting my college roommates for a reunion this weekend

That, in some misguided moment last summer, I thought sounded like it would be fun. I decided to get some work done in my house before they came; new faucets in the bathroom, some plaster and painting work, new bedroom furniture that I'd been planning anyway, and a new roof that just happened to work out for this week too.

So. Handyman says he can complete all the bathroom work last week. Except...he forgot about the plaster and paint. After trying to get SO to Ikea all damn summer, we finally go last Saturday. Roofers said they'd be here Monday.

Now, it's the day before everyone arrives, which I took off to clean, shop, and organize. Roofers couldn't come Monday because of rain, put all their supplies on the roof Tuesday, couldn't come yesterday because of rain, arrived at 7:45 this morning, filled up the driveway with their trucks and are in the process of showering debris all over the driveway and lawn. Having called the handyman every day since Sunday, he is finally sending someone over today (no sign yet, though). SO promises furniture will all be assembled and here by this evening but has said that every day since Monday. Old furniture still needs to go out and be disposed of.

All of my planning and organizing has been shot to hell. Grrrr.

2. Just do it up like college - take out the furniture, set up some cases of beer as a table,

maybe some milk crates in the living room to hold up the TV, a Led Zeppelin beach blanket for a curtain, and you're all set!
