What music have you been listening to lately?
Me:

Jolie Holland - new song "Palmyra" (liked it - and recently saw interviews of her for the first time. From those, my crush on her has definitely gotten bigger!)

TV On The Radio - Dear Science (another very good album; liked it a little more than Return to Cookie Mountain because Dear Science has more fully formed songs. Especially liked "Halfway Home," "Dancing Choose," "Golden Age," "Family Tree," and "Shout Me Out.")

Kellie Pickler - some songs and some samples from Kellie Pickler's self-titled CD (not a total disaster, but a step down from Small Town Girl. It's overproduced, and her vocals are more forced and strained. Songs are less charming. I recommend Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift over this.)

samples from Kristy Lee Cook - Why Wait (I would have to hear more to get a firm opinion, but it sounded average, and my impressions of her from AI don't make me think I'd like the full songs.)

some songs and samples from Lesley Roy - Unbeautiful (good voice but less interesting songs)

Jenny Lewis - Acid Tongue (highly recommended; influenced a lot by 70s bands like The Eagles)

Samples from Jack's Mannequin - The Glass Passenger (for sure, an album to check out.)

30. Rock Band was the first game with vocals and drums
And it this point in my life I don't feel like shelling out all the extra cash just to have access to Guitar Hero's tracks.

Even though I was impressed by the fact that they had The Living End.

3. I've been on an M83 kick lately.
New Bloc Party, Portugal. The Man, Jaguar Love, Shad, Selfish Cunt.

I really need to check out the new TV on the Radio. Not sure why I haven't downloaded that. I just downloaded Fucked Up's upcoming album, which I haven't listened to yet but I expect to be good.

17. Yes, but I haven't really delved into it much
It's strange; for the longest time I preferred the work from his "cool period", but I got seriously hooked on Bitches Brew this summer.
Y'know, he may have been a miserable human being, but there is no denying the man's genius.
A monumental talent.

I've been listening to her, and a lot of Japanese bands, but mostly Utada Hikaru - love her! Also I stumbled across this band called "Firewater", and I'm really digging them. I'm not sure how to describe them though.. so you can listen to some of their stuff here: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=70933124

Those songs sound like they were written for Todd Rundgren to sing. Add in Prairie Prince and Kasim Sulton? All kinds of awesome.

(Ben Orr's voice is indeed missed, though.)

45. Meh. I like some of her other tunes, but not that one. It tries to do too much.
A bit of pop-punk, a bit of acoustic mid-tempo ballad...they should have found a middle ground. I would have liked it more if they had.

Now "Start All Over" and "See You Again"? LOVE those tunes.
