Thank you to the train driver on the London underground
Dunno why I'm posting this here, but anyway. :D

I was walking down the stairs to the platform at Upton Park when I saw there was a train already there. I started running but the doors were closing as I approached the train. I didn't fancy doing anything rash so I gave up, but the driver saw me and opened the doors again to let me on.

As it turned out he or she saved my bacon, because I subsequently had to run to get my train back to Bedford. If I had had to wait for the next subway train back at Upton Park I would have missed my connection at St Pancras for sure.

It is little things like that that touch my heart. You fucking rock, anonymous train driver!

5. No one does stuff like that here.
In fact, I was once running to catch a bus, and I swear the driver saw me as he was pulling away and intentionally went just slow enough to make me think I could catch up before roaring off just as I got to the door.

I need to get out of this place. :silly:

8. Bus drivers are a different breed.
Maybe it's because they have to cope with traffic, while train drivers don't?

All I know is, when I was a kid, train driver is one of the jobs boys were supposed to aspire to. But nobody ever dreamed about driving a bus. ;)

22. That was really very nice
Often enough I run to a underground just to have it closing the doors and leaving the second I stand in front of the doors. And the driver saw me running.

So that one person made your day.
