1. Indeed.
If he wasn't such a bastard, I'd almost pity him for what Michigan will do to him if he can't deliver what they paid for.

3. I think you might be right about that.
I feel for any team stuck under his "leadership." Let the jerk get run out on a rail, like he deserves. He'll be lucky to find a job coaching high school ball after that.

5. I don't think he understands yet where he is coaching
I watched the game, and all I could think was what the hell? That was really sloppy football. I want to cut the team some slack because of all the talent that left last year, but really, what the hell??

If he loses to Ohio State, which that looks like it will happen, he may make it another year, but that would be it.

18. Big Ten Pride
i felt dirty, yes, but in the end i want the big ten to kick ass in non conference. once the conference starts, its a whole other story

of course, theres also a level of wanting michigan to do alright. What's the point of a rivalry with a team that sucks (e.g. USC/Notre Dame)

9. All I want to know is...
what kind of MORON puts not one, but TWO untested and unexperienced FRESHMEN QBs in to START?

Both of those quarterbacks SUCKED. They have potential but they NEED Experience.

I am so disappointed.

10. Yeah the QB situation was awful
You could see they were playing their hearts out, but, well, they sucked. Offensive line looked very slow and sluggish to me, letting defensive players get way too close to the QB on many occasions.

And as much as I do not want to get in to a flame war over this man, I am going to defend him a little bit. From what I understand about the football situation down there, they did not have a lot of options for QB. That was as good as they had. Pretty much all the strong offensive players left last year to go pro, so, you get this. They had better get their poop in a group however, cause we don't look kindly on losing teams.

21. in recruiting?
not really. i mean, yeah, he could have grabbed a last minute pick, but anymore with major programs most prospects are a year ahead. Our 2009 class is already basically full. That's not to say that RR couldn't have done a better job, because hell yes he could have. He didn't have the personnel this year to have a spread offense; he should have run a more traditional offense, and recruited for the spread starting now

27. Oh for heaven's sake
It's one game and a major rebuilding year. Despite virtually no offense Michigan came back and was very close to tying. Rodriguez went with the QBs he had, Ryan Mallett transferred, remember, without even trying this system and Michigan wasn't left with much to work with. The defense adjusted and shut Utah down in the second half. If they didn't have that robot kicker, who can apparently kick to the West Coast without breaking a sweat, and who had four field goals and a 65 yard punt, they wouldn't have won at all.

The way West Virginians are carrying on, Rodriguez must be pretty darn good or they wouldn't be saying anything at all. I'm not a fan of how he left and I'm not sure I'm a fan at all. I agree he has some things to learn about Michigan and a high profile progam. But it was ONE GAME, people. I think Bo Schembechler lost his first game too after a bunch of players quit or transferred.

A little too much protestation, methinks.

28. We Wrst Virginians are just happy to see him faceplant because he was such a prick
Despite his winning record here, he was an ass, and he treated WVU and his players like shit in the end, all in the name of his own wallet.

Also, best beware of his habit of letting his players walk around thinking they are gods on earth... he did that here, and there are numerous of them who now have hefty police records because they wrongfully thought that just because they were RichRod's boys, they were somehow above the law. Adam Jones and Chris Henry have even gone on to embarrass us at the pro level as well... they were just as bad here when they were students, but RichRod never bothered to rein them in, or make their play-time dependent on their behavior.

29. Won't happen here
There is a lot more oversight here (read an article about that very thing just the other day) and many more extremely wealthy donors who won't tolerate that kind of behavior, even for the sake of winning. No one wants to make them unhappy.

It just seems to me that if West Virginians are so glad that he's gone, they wouldn't care what he does or how his team does but calling him a traitor and his family still receiving death threats from WV makes me think people really wanted him to stay.

30. I hadn't heard anything about death threats, but
then again, every state has a handful of crazy people. It doesn't mean the state itself is somehow bad.

And he IS a traitor--to his team. The boys he left without a word to face a bowl game without a head coach, whose files he destroyed on the way out, thus complicating their educations. Defend that kind of behavior if you want, I could care. But don't be surprised when others don't agree with you.

32. I'm not defending anything
I don't even know that I like the guy or ever will. I was only remarking that West Virginians seem to care an awful lot about someone they claim to hate, which makes me think they really like him and wanted him to stay. They wouldn't call him a traitor, they'd be glad to be rid of him.

Please note, I am not saying this is you. It's in response to what I've been reading.

35. To be fair, if Utah hadn't had some bone-headed mistakes early, the game would've been over at half.
The Utes had penalties kill 3 drives that resulted in field goals.

If Utah had scored a touchdown on every one of those drives, they're up 34-10 at the half.

36. As a Buckeye fan I have some observations.
I'm not a fan of RichRod's character. And character counts for a lot in a football coach. That being said, I have no doubt RichRod will get the recruiting and Xs and Os correct given a chance. The Big Ten needs a strong Michigan just as they need a strong Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin. We are only as good a conference as the member teams.
