1. I am really dreading this. I am not on the coast, but
I am in MS. Katrina was still a catergory 1 when she hit my town and I am central MS. Plus everyone from the coast was in my town. We had no power for days. I am so worried now that I am going to go into labor when the hurricane hits. My town is going to be a madhouse. All of the hotels are already booked for next week. At least people are evacuating soon this time. Arrgh!!! I hate hurricanes.

6. I saw him yesterday and he says I am not ready.
The little booger hasn't even dropped yet. No dialation either. She is going to hang in there until the last possible minute it seems. That or she will come during a hurricane. x(

4. I wish you the best Shell...
I'm sure you will be ok where you are. Let's think positive. If things did indeed look like they were going to get bad, do you have somewhere else you can go?

anywhere but my hospital. My home town is a couple of hours north of here but I don't trust anyone at any of those hospitals.

8. Shell, could you travel elsewhere to have this child or can you not travel at this time
I mean geez, you could come stay with me. AI Dupont is one of the best Children's hospitals here in the area and I'm sure they could find room to fit in a transplant escaping the hurricane. If you don't want to come to Delaware I'm sure there are plenty of DUers further north of where you live who would be happy to take you in and make sure you get to the hospital in time.

If it helps any, my one niece was born during one of the worst blizzards to hit Pennsylvania in ages. My step-brother & wife only lived a few miles from Hershey Medical Center but had a miserable drive that took close to an hour to get there. My SIL literally got into the hospital with the kid partway out of her.

You should be fine. Perhaps we'll all send good vibes and you can have this kid over the weekend.

15. A little word to the wise...
Low pressure, especially the super low pressure usually associated with hurricanes, triggers lots of migraines and lots of labors. I don't know what your due date is but if you're close, just be a little extra ready. Can't hurt, right? Best of luck and lots of good thoughts. :)

10. I'm fielding calls left and right from friends in NOLA looking for a place to shelter....

Most of the hotels here in Baton Rouge are booked.

On Edit: We may well lose power, but my employer and several friends have generators. So it'll be inconvenient but probably not catastrophic.

On the upside- it may take away a LOT of media coverage from the RNC!!!

12. I am in Houston, watching the Weather Channel.
We filled up the cars and the gas cans.

Went to the store for extra food and water.

Bought two rolls of plastic and duck tape.

Already have plywood for the windows from 3 years ago, just need to put them in the windows.

All I need to do is pick up the yard and cut some ditches so the water can flow.

We have extra ice in the freezer.

And anything else I can think of.

Monday and Tuesday will be busy.

Everybody stay safe.

14. I don't think anybody knows yet.
We will have to wait until the storm hits the Gulf of Mexico.

My old house is safe, and we will be high and dry.

Now if we get hit it is the townhouses I am worried about.

They are made of crap, don't think they can stand a hurricane.

Hope I am wrong.
