Why must really awesome events conflict with family gatherings?
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 08:05 PM by AspieGrrl
I'm going to totally sound like a spoiled brat, but here goes:

My cousin's getting married on Sunday. Which I am somewhat excited for, because weddings are always fun, and I like her, even if I dislike most of that side of my family. However, this day also happens to coincide with a queer literary festival in my city. Where my all-time favorite author (Michelle Tea) is doing a reading. And a Q&A. Seriously, I love her writing. I read The Chelsea Whistle when I was in grade 9 and it basically changed my life. Her writing has had a huge impact on me, and I would have really loved to meet her. This kind of sucks.

*pouts*

1. because weddings are *not* always fun
weddings are always tedious and boring and so not fun, and teh awesome event (for which you have already bought tickets, right, nudge nudge wink wink!) is your excuse to get out of the tiresome family event

ok so i'm kidding around a little bit but i love it when there's a conflict with a "family" event and i have an excuse to get out of said family event

plus you're meeting a writer and aren't you a younger person and can't you use the excuse of, you're doing a report on this writer for your school? teh heh

yeah, i know all the secrets to getting out of weddings and baby showers, probably makes me a terrible evil person tho! B-)
